Am I the only one that acknowledges other scooby drivers?
Morning all,
Thought I would do a quick post as around my area I always give other scooby drivers a nodd or hand up whenever I drive past them, but I never get an acknowledgement back...I use to always in my classic, does everyone hate bugs that much?? Haha.
Anyways, just thought I would see if anyone else still does this, if not, I shall stop, lol!
Carl.

It's about 50/50 round near me. I've got the mrs into putting her hand up now, but I don't see too many other scoobys. People must think I'm weird when I forget I'm driving the works van.

My old man drives a Bug WRX and he doesnt wave at other subaru owners, its just a car to my dad, he doesnt get the whole subaru scene/modding etc, he just wants a 4wd car with a big boot, and a bit of poke when he gives it some!!!

Chavs don't wave, it's usually true enthusiasts who wave to show appreciation for another owners car. Bugs aren't considered as desirable as other models, but unless your car is a total shed I'd expect other owners to wave. I always wave if it's safe to do so unless it's a total chav wagon.

I personally can't abide the whole hand up acknowledgment thing. I never do it. It's embarrassing. It's a car for chrissakes... Which is loved and loathed in equal measure. (Actually, invariably more loathed these days ).
Sadly, we live in such hedonistic, self-absorbed times, no one really gives a **** anyway! So I wouldn't get too 'precious' about it lol.
But hey, at 45, I guess all that 'excitement' is well behind me, regardless.
Just leave it to the VW drivers; what with their 'Masonic-esque' hand gesture, an'all.

I'm considerably older than you and whilst I don't feel 'excitement' It's a simple acknowledgement that's been going on for many years, there's no harm in it. With so much aggression around, it's nice to feel a bit of friendliness?

That's a shame. You make it sound like you're one of those who doesn't "give a **** anyway"

We'll just have to agree to differ on this. I'm sure you'll agree I'm allowed my two'penneth too?
Why the barbed reaction to an opinion that just happens to differ to yours? As I said, no need to get all precious about such an insignificant action, anyway. The OP took the opinion for what it was, after all.

Showing that you respect there car. Like a lot of people say if you don't look back at your car once you parked it up then your in the wrong car I have always had a lot of respect for scoobs since they first came out and was so glad when I got my first one and like to take pride in driving one and noticing other ones

Do you wave at men in the same make of trainers as you in the street out of respect for Nike???

As TT eludes to above...
You can still be really into your own car, without feeling the need to nod/wave at others who happen to be driving the same marque or model as your own.
Also, if you're the instigator, you're assuming the other driver is like-minded.
It really is a strange thing to do, IMO.
