Very nice car but it won't get 12k unless it's broken tbh nobody spends that sort of money on a classic anymore

See where your coming from, Personally I would not buy a classic at £12k, but im sure someone who wants something already done then it would be perfect, but if I was in the market for a well sorted classic I would probably pay £10k but a 6 speed box and built engine at a minimum, which this seems to have!!!

any car whatever upgraded parts or spec is only worth what you can get for it..... same really with 2nd hand parts as well what one person thinks is a good price other look at and think no.....all down to the individuals at the end of the day...

even when you look in a price guide it says a guide as they don't know how it has been driven and if it has ben cared for etc etc...

you want to see some of the cars I see for sale at circuits and I don't mean race cars but cars which have been modified or upgraded some people see the price and just walk past it it is the enthusiast who will actually stop and look at the spec etc and then look in more detail

just my opinions....

8k maybe due to it been an rb5 and there are some areas of the spec that could do with improvement for that kind of power.

I picked up a similar spec jap sti with a slightly higher spec (Tein Superflex(?) EDFC) etc etc etc for less than 8k so Im presuming that because of the fact it is an rb5 it will be worth a little bit more

I actually think I remember this car being for sale a few years for £8500 with a guy in Bristol. It was only running 400ish bhp back then though but was still a 2.1 and had a 6 speed.

I know it was either #109 or #119

You sure it wasn't this one?

What's the mileage of the shell? I would say 8-9k but at that price you are knocking on the door of low mileage P1's which are more desirable so im not too sure.

Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

12k is a ok price for a well modified car but as above I don't think you'll get it but it's a good starting point, you don't want to give it away now do you?.SJ.

+1...................but it's still finding someone who wants to blow 5 figures on a classic Impreza.

Sadly, breaking is the only viable option if the OP wants to extract as much money from the car he can.

First of all: that's a beautiful classic!

Unfortunately, you'll never get what it's "worth" in terms of what you've spent on it, I'm afraid. That's the reality of creating a really good modified car: all you do is make it more attractive to a certain section of the market: you never get back what you put in, especially when the car is over 10 years old.

The reality is that you'll get more if you split it, BUT it's a ball ache AND such a shame to see such a lovely example broken up.

I'd ask 10k for it and hope for 9k as the five figure sum for a classic is likely to be a difficult psychological barrier for most!

I'm sure there'd be someone out there who'd give you that for it, but you'll have to see off a lot of nay-sayers and time wasters who will offer you half of that!

Best of luck!

I agree with NS04. If you can get 9k you would be doing well. It's probably worth more but no one will actually pay it.

It is a very nice car.

If you after a newage, why dont you pick a rolling shell up and transfer all the good bits from the RB5 to the newage and sell all the bits you dont need(interior, wheels, shell etc)Trouble is you will start all again with a newage when most of the hard work has already gone into the RB5,

2.1 GT30 6 speed newage, and best bit you already have the best bits!!!

I agree with this but i would buy a running blob and get the bits swapped over, its a lot easier to sell the rb5 running,i think it would only end up costing whatever the mechanic wants to charge for swapping the bits(rb5/wrx blob about the same money?)it would cost you around 2k ish and you will have a 550bhp blob with a setup that has been looked after

Have thought of doing something like this but fancy a new challenge with a new car.
