Are mudflaps chav?
Cleaning the car it is covered in tar spots, and I want to get some black rally style flaps (black car)
I have just replaced the wheels for 18" o.z wheels as the originals were buckled to f*@! so gone from 215 to 225 and slightly wider with the offset so the spots will only get worse, but the missus has said "so we're going down the chav route then"
Personally I think impreza look good with flaps, and they serve a purpose.

Nothing wrong with mud flaps I have been running them for years now,and for the exact same reason just got tired of washing the car, driving a couple of miles down the road and the sides of my car would be covered in tar, brake pad deposits, and road dust, chav I don't think so.SJ.

Mudflaps not only protect the paintwork but also widen the appearance of the car.
Provided they're not an outlandish colour I personally think they look great.
These are the excellent Kaylan type from Performance Creations of Bolton, and I recommend them highly.

I'm biased as well but I think there there for a purpose, ie keep the car cleaner and prevent tar, spots, brake dust deposits and stone Chips.
I prefer ones that are either colour coded to the car or black ones.
I think if your in a Saxo etc with those 'universal' cut to fit Sparco ones then yes that chav!

Mudflaps are proper CHAV Everyone laughs if you put rally stickers on the side of your car to make it look like a rally car, but you put some flaps to hang from your arches and thats ok as it gives it that rally car look!!!
And if they serve a purpose and look good, why dont I see prestige cars and cars like Ferrari and Lambo's driving with them on. Why is because they look toss!!!

I didn't put mine on to make it look like a rally car, I done it to protect my car...."if I owned a Lambo or Ferrari I could then well afford to have my car blown over to keep it looking mint and it wouldn't get driven in the rain or winter!
Also weren't they a dealer option, so there basically oem+

Only dealer oem ones Ive seen are the pastic moulded ones, not the big flappy things that hang near the tarmac that usually have STi, WRX or prodrive wrote on them!!!!

I would rather have my doors blown over then put mudflaps on, and my car is black so shows any chips etc!! save the embarrassment of having fanny flaps on the car!!!

Stone chips look more pikey than mud flaps.

They are chav IMHO yes, but they do protect the bodywork from stonechips, tar, getting dirty etc. so I am using them.
Nevertheless, I plan to change them from faded blue to a black Prodrive set that are more discreet.
mnem1c, any more 3/4 pics of your car from a distance?
It looks good.

Its a car, you got to expect some stone chips, Front bumper and bonnet get it the worst and mudflaps are not going to stop that, doors not to bad but the widetrack rear arch extensions get it pretty bad, but mine have just been resprayed so looking minty mint!!!
