Default Do I need a socket for the diff plugs on my Blob?

Or would the end of a 1/2" drive fit directly?

Some have used the 1/2" drive without any issues, but some have had problems doing that - including me.

The 1/2" drive is a bit smaller than the plug (at least it is in my STi) so depending on how much tighten it is you might end up rouding the plug while trying to remove it - believe me it is not good at all... The correct size socket is very cheap in my country (specially compared to the cost of removing a rounded plug and getting a new one) so I believe it may be even cheaper in UK. Get the correct one and avoid a nightmare with a rounded diff drain plug...

There is this tool here, it costs some R$ 30 in my country (£8):

Comes with multiple sizes in one wrench, so you can remove oil plugs from different cars. I don't know if there is a similar tool in UK.
