Similar thread to this on here at the moment. Can't imagine a W reg being worth much. A rebuild will cost a fortune!

My suggestion would be to break it for parts, keep the bits you want and find a new car.

Depends on your budget. For around 3.5k you can get a fully forged short motor built from reputable builders- that could handle 350bhp without breaking a sweat..

Maybe more than what the car is worth right now but once you have a fully forged block it will certainly add some value to the car - not a lot but if you document the build with receipts and pics it will help when selling it on later down the line

An EJ20 with forged pistons and everything else pretty much stock will handle 341 bhp. You'd use multi layer head gaskets of course. If you're going to keep the car for some time rebuilding your own engine is your best bet, at least you know it's been done right. Other than that, you pays for your second hand and takes the results.
If you do it the right way, it should be once only!
At the end of the day these cars cost you money, period. Does it matter? of course not, or you would have bought a new Kia, wouldn't you? If you didn't like the car, you wouldn't have bought it, so breaking it now would be a bit of a shame. Fix and enjoy, that's the way to go.

A 2nd hand engine is a gamble. End of. Better with proper rebuild.

I think you should take your time and do some research.

Call a few of the engine builders on here, Mr jeffrey above would be a good place to start.
