Default Battery upgrade?

Afternoon gents,

On a track day I noticed that the battery on my Blob eye battery had started to leak. The car is pretty much only a weekend and track toy so I might as well upgrade it to something a bit smaller and lighter.

The question is, what does everybody recommend?

Cheers

Kev

Bosch Silver 5 Year Warranty batteries are pretty good. You can get the gel type but they aint cheap but would prevent the spill issues.

I have a COSTCO card and the non-gel MX5 sized batteries are £56 incl VAT. The same ones are £119 in Halfrauds no-brainer!

That doesn't look like much of an upgrade!?

I was hoping to get something lighter and maybe dry cell. Anybody using something like this?

Not sure what is (about to be 'was') on mine.

Lightweight competition spec.
Just given up the ghost (today of all days, unveiling of 2015 car at local dealers).

Been on it for 8 years and to be fair it has suffered a bit because I've no power supply in the garage, so can't trickle charge it as previous owner did.
This type (might be better since technology's advanced 7 or 8 years) do only hold enough charge to start the car for about 7 days or so in my experience (less in Winter presumably, a bit more in warmer temps?).

I'll post the make etc. once I've got it off and replaced (sometime today I hope).

LuckyWelshchap - Any updates on your battery mate?

Think I'm going to end up going for an Odyssey Extreme, not sure which one yet though

Hello Kev.

Sorry for the apparent delay (not long got in).
Looks like mine's got the original battery on it (any Japanese translators in the house?).

I've had a look through the FSH that came with the car in the hope I'd find an invoice for the battery but there isn't one (hence probably original ex factory).

I'm away until Sun night (unless my horse wins the Derby, and the other 5 come in as well, in which case I'm off for good) and I'll ask around a couple of places near here if you want.

2 have been highly spoken of, in terms of price, so if I can help in that way I'll gladly do so.

Thanks for that mate, but don't go out of your way. I was just hoping somebody would have been using one they could recommend

PS. Good luck with the horses. I'm hoping for a lottery win tonight to get me home from work haha
