Does that hold true for a blobeye WRX? I read somewhere that moving to slightly thicker oil on older/higher mile engines. What would you recommend for a blob WRX with 140K+ miles? (very well serviced engine).

I have exactly the same car and power and have just used Millers Nanotec 10w50 as recommended by Rich of FB tuning

Use the search mate. Only been asked about 400,000 times before...
Sorry if that's a bit harsh but this and the "what tyre" threads do get a bit tiresome. The search is your friend, trust me.

I think it's slightly thinner oil in older engines for better lubrication, mine has 105k on the clock and is a 54 plate wrx wagon.

I think it's more important that you use quality oil and change it regularly, many different views on the subject, these are the common ones 5-40, 10-40, 10-50, 15-50, but most would agree quality oil and changing every 5k as a maximum.

Fuchs Titan pro s and millers are also widely used, I have used both with no issues in the past.

Stupid question, but do you do filter at every oil change, not just at the regular 10K service?

For the sake of £13 for a genuine Subaru filter, it would be daft not to.
