thought that the biggest one would have been the mcrae gathering convoy?

over 1000 in the motorway convoy, the lead car was over 1 hour in front of the last car

Which one was it that 5th gear was at? If I remember, they almost filled a race track once the cars gave each other a set distance.

The convoy of Subaru's between Banbury and Warwick along the M40 would have easily been about 1200 cars, but it wasn't entered as a Guinness world record. The largest car mosiac (1186 scoobs) was confirmed but the second record they were going for on that day was abandoned.

Interesting.

'Pre-registration donation pledge' ends on er.... 14th July 2014.
Anyway, good luck to them and the good cause.

1,000+ car conveys must be something else.
West Mids' 'Meet on the Beach' was good, and that was simply being in a traffic jam comprised mostly of scoobies trying to get into W-S-M.

Yes it was the one that 5th Gear was at.. It was at Prodrive proving ground and after the mosaic record was achieved (was changed to number of cars in a name by Guiness Book of Records ) there was to be an attempt at the longest convoy with nearly all the 1186 scoobys driving around the test track.. Unfortunately the stupid woman Vicki Butler-Henderson who was in the convoy went off track into the gravel trap and held everyone up.. Because of the time limit on the test ground the attempt was abandoned Guiness Book of Records wouldn't claim the convoy from Lanark or the one from Prodrive to Warwick as a record as there had to be a certain space between each car and all travelling at the same speed!
