As above. My oem discs have rusted badly on the hubs and are now vibrating when I apply them above 80mph. Only had them on for 3000 miles.

Calipers are all good as I refurbished them with new stainless steel pistons and seals from Godspeed.

Thinking of their grooved discs and Kevlar pads. As daft as it sounds, decent painted hubs are a must as I cannot stand rusty brake discs behind shiney alloys and freshly powder coated calipers!

I bought some discs with painted hubs on Thursday, arrived yesterday and the paint is flaking off already when I opened the box. So I will be sending them back for a refund.

Won't name names unless he refuses to refund.

I would personally use Godspeed as I'm pretty sure he does painted hubs as standard with his disc, and there priced well, good quality and work so you can't really go wrong.SJ.

Not too bothered if they are a bit squeaky when hot as I don't drive fast that often anyway. However, I was under this impression that kevlar/organic pads were softer than oem and hence quieter.

I have EBC Ultimax and EBC Yellows on my Hawk wagon. Not sure I would choose the same combination again tbh. Pads seem to be wearing fairly quickly as do the discs.
Fairly noisy under hard braking and do not last very long until you get brake fade with spirited driving.
Money I spent on the whole lot I should have gone for the brembo bigger brakes.

I bought slotted discs and Kevlar pads front, orange stuff rear from Godspeed. Works very well and the Kevlar doesn't make you alloys black.

+1 for above.
They are low dust, do not squeal more of a friction noise.

Same as me, I find the ultimax utter dog, noisy ****e.. Cover my wheels in dust. But they are basically a standard pad.

We were chatting about this yesterday and other big brake options, supposedly a very good kit indeed and makes a big difference, on my short list of budget big brake upgrades anyway

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=839235

The above cars running them, look pretty decent too.

But the calipers aren't up to the job with hard useage, ok for odd blast and odd track dependant how you use your brakes.

That was one of my worries, get different opinions from different people. To be honest it's looking like I'm better just getting new 330mm ksport 8pots, or second hand ap's.

I like to keep things 'OEM' where possible. If I could get a STI caliper kit for reasonable money I would go for it. Next best thing could be the 4 pot big brake kit.

and it does look good. I have the prodrive 18's so would look really good under them.

Am I missing something here. If you have reconditioned your calipers what's wrong with getting new oem discs and pads? As you say, you don't drive fast very often so oem should be fine (and a lot cheaper).

I know but it's not a lot more money for performance parts, such as the Godspeed grooved discs and kevlar pads all round. Just hope he will do me a deal as I have spend quite a bit on the standard brakes since October, including a stainless steel piston rebuild kit from God speed.

The LC R5+ pads seemed a good bet but I think they will be a bit too 'squeaky' for my every day driving habbits which include a fair amount of stop/start traffic work.

I've run Kevlar pads on mine, CL RC5+ pads also with OEM spec blank discs.

The Kevlar pads are pants IMO. Fade very easily and leave pad deposits all over the discs.

RC5+ These were good for a while, then they started to fall apart after 3 months, managed to get a refund on them. And if you have a google it's far from uncommon.

I'm now running Hawk HP+ pads and they're fantastic! Awesome bite and stopping power, no fade, they take endless pounding and lap it up.

This is sort of feedback I am after.
I have read good things about the Hawk HP Pads. They don't seem that common over here though. Just wondered why?

As for the kevlar pads, I understand that you really need to run them with slotted discs to keep the surface clean and avoid deposits.

I guess when having a bit of fun, I'll do no more than 2-3 hard stops.

Do you track your car or is it road use only? And is this with standard discs?

I don't know. Read a few other reviews on the web and the opposite can be said. Not really supposed to be a performance pad, although it is advertised as one. And they appear squeal around town.

This seems a very subjective topic with many people having different opinions on 4 pot brake setups.

I used DS2500 pads in my old blob STI with EBC ultimax discs.

They were very good, and much better then the OEM setup - IMO of course.

Difficult to compare those pads if they were on an STI with Brembos Urban. Although I appreciate your comment.

I have used DS 2500 for a few years on subaru 4pots in classic and newage and in my current AP's work very well under all conditions, wear well, never squeak, don't break down so you get maximum life out of them, so much so I don't bother with anything else now, just ordered a fresh set for my AP 4 pots current set were on the car when I got it almost 3yrs ago and have done 15k in my ownership mixed driving.

Ok they're not the cheapest but they work and last so worth that bit extra imo.

Very helpful.
Who is your preferred supplier?

It's not tracked often but it does get driven hard and the Hawk pads are the best I've had by far. They're used a lot in the US.

Here's were to get some for WRX 4 pots:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hawk-HP-Pl...item3ccf51c815

They're also listing them for Brembo's too.

Cracking brake pads.

I use Ian @Godspeed good service and great comms.

Mine for the AP4 pots 330mm discs were £140 delivered to Croatia so probably cheaper than the hawk ones in the link above for subaru 4 pots in the uk.
