They CAN actually do that over here as well. What gets them is noise rather than anything else, assuming you're just keeping up with the traffic rather than weaving all around it. I'm forever telling exhaust manufacturers to start quieting them down a bit before it all goes over the top. We've proven there's no need for them to be too noisy if the design is right.

Several countries in the EU don't take kindly to modified vehicles aswell as emissions. You now have to buy a certificate, display it to enter German cities to prove your emissions.

For all our moaning of the UK being too much of a 'nanny state', compared to a lot of the rest of Europe, we have it relatively cushty as regards our MOT and legislation for car modifications.

So people, enjoy these relative freedoms to the hilt (while they last! ).

I think in this UK once their convinced you live and work here the 12 month grace is overturned. and they then expect UK standards, ie its not just a holiday stop.

This is something of a guess but could the MOT be down to you living and working in Germany? The fine may have come anyway.

Designing a decent well flowing exhaust that isn't too noisy costs time and money. Where as taking a bit of pipe and bending then it to suit is much easier/cheaper.

That and tbh I'd imagine there's very little demand for sensible exhausts.

I said the car comes for little holidays to Germany and lives in the UK most of the time.

The fine would have come anyway. Having a german address meant that I did not have to pay the 1000 on the spot. It was an advantage.

If I did not have an German address and was visting, say staying in a hotel. They would have impounded the car and also got me to pay 1000 on the spot. I guess off to the cash point time.
As most cards have a limit far lower than 1000, what would they do ?

I got pulled for speeding in Germany with a Nurspec on, 30 Euros and off I went

They would ttake your car until you pay them, plus impound costs etc. Its not their problem that you can't pay the fine

It is ****ty but thanks for bringing it up, its a shame you have a german address as I'd be half inclined to whip the plates off, trailer it to cities edge and then make for the border at a rate of knots lol

I guess it's just like over here, you get some that are ok and others that will try and find anything wrong with your car

Alan can you suggest/supply a system that can run around 500hp on a 2.5 and still sound sensible when I go to work at 5.30am?

Sounds like you got a cop that was in a proper bad mood!

Been to Germany a couple of times in my scoob running a NUR Spec S and with a few others running equally as loud and louder and fully stickered/wide body kit cars and never had any problems, even had a police escort in to Trier town centre once...but that's another story.

He was not bothered. He asked me if I wanted documentation sent to my Uk or German address it made no odds to him.

To be fair if your going to run a motor at or beyond the edge of the law then sooner or later your going to meet a w$nker of a copper that decides your going to be his hump for the day.

I do sympathise though, as far as i'm concerned I don't see why it should be against the law to do wtf you like with your car as long as it's road worthy.

Too many fascist **** holes in this world that want to control the rest of us, worst thing about it is they're are people just the same as anyone, wtf gives them the right to tell the rest of us what we can and can't do.

Mildred fetch the shotgun.
