Default Brake fluid

What brake fluid goes in a 2003 wrx?

I've got a service manual for the sti and it lists DOT3, things normally take DOT4.

Recommended brake fluid:
FMVSS No. 116, fresh DOT3 brake fluid

If you have done work on the braking system it would be a good idea to replace the brake fluid. Do you know when it was done last?
DOT4 or DOT 5.1 are the preferred grade.

DOT4 superceeds DOT3. Subaru just say DOT3 as a minimum standard.

The more important factor is changing it - every two years.

Manford

Just bought some Gulf Racing Dot 5.1 from Opie Oils - one of those recommended by oilman.
