Spec-D copy would be my guess without seeing an underneath shot, S204 did`nt come with front brembo`s whereas the Spec-D did and also had leather seats...and its a 2.5, Applied model code is the only way to find out.

Pretty sure there was a thread on here a few months ago with someone who was looking to sell this and gave quite a bit of the background to it.

S cars have never been made for the EU market, they have always been for the Japanese Domestic Market, plus if it were an S204, you would boast about all the STI suspension and adjustable shocks, but to me that looks (as Gaz said) like a spec d (also no rear wiper).
And just to pick a few more bits out of it, the S204 doesn't have headlight washers

If it was a s204 wouldn't it be at least twice the price.

He does explain why he has the car and its going at a normal price for a good spec-d so what would be his motivation to lie, its not to make more money.

On the balance of probability that advert is a load of cobblers. Looks like someone's stuck on some genuine or imitation 204 parts onto a Spec D.

But I don't get why someone would go to the trouble of making up such an outlandish story.

Would love to be proven wrong.

I am sure the one and only S204 I have ever seen came with 4 pot Brembo front calipers Gaz, but as you say I think it is a Spec D with some S204 goodies thrown onto it, possibly as a one off build or whether the owner did it who knows unless the factory build sheet can be seen.

Probably being a bit unfair on the advertiser I suppose but since the tone of the thread seems to be 'guarded cynicism' I would have thought that 'STi' (or any other manufacturer) would not have wanted prototypes out in the real and wide world.
  • If the model fails to make production then it's a testimony to failure;
  • By their very nature prototypes might well have faults in them, faults which in the right hands would lead to multi-gazillion lawsuits;
  • The dealers could get inundated with requests for 'when's the Subaru S204UK out?' etc.
Anyway, he would surely have the original invoice/receipt, since he had it direct from STi. That would prove it beyond doubt.

Oh - and mine's a very rare car as well.
A very well known Subaru importer and creator of high-performance variants made a one-off prototype for the Welsh market - er, NOT, - but it can identified by the colour-coded stiffies on the rear wing.

Anyway, back to the real world, it is a strange ad, to say the least.

Anyone else notice that it has 2 different types of wheels on right and left sides ?)))

Also the S204 wheels can be bought at a huge price... I used to have a set which I was stupid enough to sell on here..

Not until you mentioned it, but the other wheels are off a Blobeye Spec C RA I believe, perhaps he has two sets of wheels and got confused?

[edit] He did mention two sets of wheels so perhaps he was showing both sets on the car?

The strange thing is, what he says about the seats is true.. I sat in Immy's (PCM) S204 and I am only a small guy and the seats where really small even for me )))

looks like the pics were taken at different times , sunny day in one and theres a black car in front , then the other pic is a dull day with an empty drive. Probably just put the pics he had on his PC on without realising the difference , or to actually show what it looks like on both sets.
