Could you not just measure top of the arch to the ground, do one turn then measure it again?

In 10 minutes you would know the answer :-)

The easiest way would be to measure the distance between the threads. I guess 4mm

That would make sense. A lot of coilovers use an M54 x 2.0 pitch thread, which means for every turn the distance moved is 2mm.

The wheel is a good bit further from the wishbone pivot point than the bottom of the suspension unit, so the height change would be greater than the thread movement.

I disagree. Height of car should change at exactly the same rate as the shock adjustment height as wheel & shock are almost parallel and the bottom of the strut is connected to the hub.

The hub is further from the pivot point than the suspension leg. If the shock is 200mm from the pivot and moves 2mm then if the hub centre is 300mm from the pivot it will move 3mm. I know my measurements aren't correct, but you get what I mean.

I do know what you mean. It's not quite 1:1. I'll give you that!

We'd need to know the fulcrum point, length from that to strut & length from strut to wheel centre to work it out, but from my basic CAD skills it may be around 1:1.5 so 10mm strut thread change = 15mm actual wheel change.

Will it need wheel alignment after altering it ?
