Rear left spring / shock noisy
Apparently this is a common problem (Maybe for Hawkeye only?) My rear left suspension makes 'clunk' noises when turning / general driving - almost as if it's getting temporarily stuck then popping out.
I remember David at API telling me it's a common thing, can anyone explain what is causing it? thanks

It could be one of three problem in that area.
1/ Allegedly it is the grease gone hard in the upper bush that supports the piston rod in the shock. It is possible, we and many have done it, to strip it and re-grease the bush and it fixes it for about 6 - 9 months. [ Long enough to hide the problem when selling the car. ]
The proper fix is to replace the suspension with better stuff, Either Coilover if budget allows or a pair of Kayaba [ KYB ] complete rear dampers.
2/ There have been a few failures of the rubber in the top mounting too, but by far the more common problem is the bush rattling.
3/ It is worth checking first though to see if the problem is the drop link from the sway bar to the lower wishbone - which also creates a rattle. The simple way to test for that is to undo one end of the link from either the sway bar or the arm and go gently round the block If the noise is gone there's your problem.
Good Luck Mike,
