I personally still think the Evo is a better car out the box. When compared to the JDM models they are a bit more similar but still think the Evo is a better standard production car over the Subaru in terms of handling and performance, and I love Subarus.

That's a problem for me though, you always see the stig etc throwing cars round the track but I would like to see car reviews where they get joe public to track the cars.

It's like the m3 or scooby question that always pop's up, round a track on topgear a v8 m3 is amazing and will destroy a sti but in the hands of joe public I suspect it would be the other way round.

For me in the hands of joe public the evo would be quicker in standard form, the sti would just understeer then they will jump of the throttle and lose all the corner speed. To get the best out of a sti you have to go into the corner way to fast and throw it in to get the car neutral were as a evo you're ***** can be a little smaller and accelerate threw and out of the corner.

 

you do realise an sti impreza is not the best handling car in the world just because you have one??

i had an evo 6 and its a far faster car on the track than an impreza due to ayc etc.

things have moved on a lot in ten years now throw away those blinkers.

 

I don't think subaru's are that good at handling, it's safe handing with lots of grip but IMO evo's are WAY better. That's why I say that to get the best out of a subaru you need to be a very good driver, with the evo it compensates for the average driver and makes it's passengers feel sick.

I no what u meen chris . U need ***** to drive a Subaru . When evo go's round corners with just a littal bit of good driving will get u round . Don't get me wrong i like evos . But you need to be a better driver to drive a Subaru .

Funny that.....all the quickest evos I have competed against will have had the ayc removed from day one !

Thats because all the quickest Evo's break AYC systems and so run the RS diff as it's stronger.

 

It's also easier to predict the limits on a mechanical diffs....

Or so I am informed ..... I've never driven an evo with ayc.

 

I've driven one but not pushed on so can't really comment too well either, but from what my friends tell me (and they dont hang about on the B roads) just keep your foot in right round the corner and the AYC sorts it all out, let off half way through this 'committedness' and your going to lose it lol.
