My son is 21 and got his first STi yesterday having built up 4 years NCD and is a real enthusiast - not a boy racer at all - I fear for the reaction police and others will give him - he has worked since 16 part time to live his dream. I will keep you informed

It is ridiculous if this is the case for young drivers - but seems to be especially biased towards Scoobys - I will keep you up - I am about to take it out in the rain (I am 50) so wonder if I will get tugged in Guildford ? I am picking up my 19 & 17 year olds - who basically said if I cant bring the Scooby they will walk!

I've been goaded by them in both my other Subarus (but not in this one - yet).

Unmarked one overtakes car in front of me, then slows down so I can't overtake before the end of dual carriageway. Goes across both lanes approaching traffic lights, I don't know if he's turning right or going straight on. He gets in left-hand lane, I take off at lights, leave him behind (STILL within limit). I get through next set of lights before they turn. He breaks them and comes up behind me, all toys blazing.
Unfortunately I have a witness in the car, he's on his own. Clearly taking the car from one place to another, not even on duty.

Next, through a roundabout on a dual carriageway. Plod in right-hand (turn right) lane on joining road (my r.o.w.). Carves up car to his inside so he can come after me.
Makes the obvious speed checks (up my ar$e, then sneaking around next roundabout etc. etc.) Eventually comes alongside on dual, cheeky partner glares at me as they saunter by (72 mph). Oh - I'm not a youngster.
So they take off at a fair lick (one last attempt to get me to speed by following/keeping up with them).

And they wonder why plod aren't respected these days - even by those who were brought up to.

I got followed on way home from my friends house at 12pm once, In my Y reg Impreza, BMW traffic car pulled out behind me, Followed me through town centre & onto dual carriage way, I stuck to 40mph, Followed me all way to normal road & through next town, Turned off when we got to motrway roundabout & headed back the way we came.

Silly thing is the car wasn't registered as insured so the ANPR Camera should have spotted that.

Think you are all missing the point here

The police pull all young drivers no matter what they are driving!

**** knows how many times I have been pulled through the years driving many cars

Funny enough though never the Scoob

It's down to the officer's discretion now whether they issue one or not. HORT/1 forms are rarely used now as all the info is available to the officer at the roadside.

I don't get followed but since having my classic I have noticed more attention from the police and more so in more dodgy areas of the city

I'd rather be pulled and legal. Than have some little ****** nick my car, and the a Police not bothering, as it hadn't been reported yet and not worth the hassle of another gobby car owner.

Same boat for me. Worked and saved up for mine all off my own back. Bought a hawk sti at 21. Insured it for 3k. Car was so standard it sounded like a 1.2 fiesta!

For the first year of ownership, I was pulled at least once a week.

Same crappy excuses... 'You look too young to drive this' etc... At the end of my first year, I attended my local police station with a covering letter including all the details for police cars and the dates I had been pulled over etc... The letter explained I had been stopped every time for no reason at all...
Haven't been stopped since and I'm 25 now
