It will be a euro import from cyprus/malta somewhere, they where bought in by these car supermarkets as they where sold quite cheap as they didnt have locking wheel nuts or cat 1 alarm systems, or a service schedule booklet!!

+1

This is exactly what it will be. I had a Cypriot import as my first Impreza some years ago, nothing much different to a UK Spec, but generally a little cheaper because of what was described above

Ps. It was nothing to a UK dealership to add the standard CAT1, add a service book, and generally upgrade to UK spec. Also worth noting that the car should be fuelled on RON 98 if memory serves me correctly if the map hasn't been adjusted at all.

Thanks Rob
the owner before me had a LPG conversion put on it so I don't run it for very long on petrol but I'll bear it in mind
It's my everyday and I do 70 miles a day to work and back in it.
Cheers

Brian Coward for mechanical work at Cams Performance Subaru Specialist in Lower Darwen near Blackburn (30 min from you)

Andrew Carr for mapping whom is often at the above location but is from Preston.
