still no car :(
my quest to find a mint low millage impreza is looking bleak to say the least, ive been looking now for the best part of 5 months and still car less (scoobyless anyway) ive been offered loads but none of them were what im looking for, I was offered a very nice STi Bugeye but a hospital visit and a change of mind (by me) sadly ended that possible deal, ive been to see a few and all have let me down. ive got my eye on a certain car but its not for sale (yet anyway) so the search goes on.. im beginning to think its not going to happen im simply being out priced when the right car becomes available.

Maybe if you wait long enough you'll find someone very desperate to sell.
But you have an unrealistic valuation of what the majority of cars that meet your specification are worth. Why are you so hung up about mileage?
You'll be looking at something with 90k-odd on the clock for that budget. Better to go for a well maintained car than one that's sat for long periods.

Your budget isn't too bad for what you're after I wouldn't say.
I paid just over 8k for a 39k 54 plate blob a few weeks back. It's in good condition but there are a small number of cosmetic issues that need addressing.
The worst but of being picky is the travel I found! Mine was just over 200 miles away

So what's the problem now that wasn't a problem say 12 months ago? Are used car prices or just Subarus in general on the hike?
I've sold what I would describe as some very good example blobeye's in the last few years (therefore younger when sold) at the price very close to your budget. So what's changed? Has the economic car market taken a turn?

exactly that mate, prices have risen.. as above, a clean low millage 'Blobeye' is selling for 8,9,10 grand at the moment and I just cant afford to shell out those kind of prices at the moment.. infact they don't have to be low millage, 80,90000 miles on the clock are priced at 8,9 grand these days, a fair bit higher than in recent years
All my cars sold or broken on here:
£8300 I think

your just being too picky mate,a decent blob can be had from £6k upwards
ive been offered one with a zen built 2.5 with garrett gt30 running 420bhp for under 7k
stop being so picky and stop being silly over this "less than 50k mileage bollocks"
low mileage doesnt exactly mean looked after

ive also been offered cars around and under my budget with re builds ect but its not what I want .. the engine may have done low miles but the car has still done them. im also not after 2.5l.
the car im going to buy will be a daily driver, a car I will be keeping for a few years and my pride any joy so im not going to spend my budget on something I don't want, im going to get the 'right' car for me thank you

If it's a daily driver then I wouldn't be so picky. It will only get chips/scratches/dents anyway.
Either up your budget or give up. You are looking for a 2nd hand car, the best part of 10 years old.
If I had one that old in the condition you are after, I'd be charging a premium due to the extra time and effort required to keep it mint.
Not what you want to hear buts it's the truth.
