A cautionary tale about speeding

A cautionary tale about speeding
The other night I found myself alone at the lights. A three lane road, me on the left.
A lad in an Audi A3 pulls up and starts to gun it and give the ol' signal that he'd like to race from the lights.
I dont usually do this sort of thing, but on this occasion I thought I would.
I lifted the revs, readied the clutch and waited on the lights.
As soon as it hit green I launched. It was a good launch, as far as I could tell, I certainly left the other guy behind. For a moment.
I reached 50mph, the road's speed limit, lifted of the gas and applied a little brake to keep me at 50mph.
The young lad in A3 went speeding past, straight passed the speed camera that duly blinked for him
A mile or so further down the road he is in a petrol garage forecourt talking to a police officer as I roll on by, still doing 50mph; the speed limit.
The cautionary tale? Dont speed on public roads

You sound proud. I don't speed in built up areas, but I can't see that you have anything to celebrate when some other poor sod has been done by a speed camera, especially when you contributed to his speeding.

haha i had this with a porsche cayenne with a female driver,
i was in a company toyota at the lights and a porsche cayenne pulled up next to me and did that "jump in front" acceleration trick, couple of miles down the road i passed the daft cow with a nice police car at the side of the road
What i do love though is to **** of those "jump in front" drivers by matching there acceleration speeds so they have to brake

I dont speed in built up areas or any areas. I like my clean licence.
He chose to break the speed limit, he chose to infract the law, he chose to take the risk. I am fully in favour of speed limits and speed cameras, they are there for a reason. The point of the post is as alcazar noted, Dont Speed.

Where did I say it was a built up area? No where. It wasnt. It was just a 3 lane road, on the outskirts of town, that happens to lead to a motorway.

Granted, many of us will play the safe card, myself included, I dont speed in residential areas, but in the dead of the night on a dual carriageway with not a car in sight, I will give it some beans.

If you're holding me up, I am going past you when there is an opportunity to do so in an open area. It is silly speeding in residential and built up areas, as there is too many dangers and pedestrians.

I had a 63 plate bmw the other day driving close to my rear bumper and then it would back of and drive close again. It was driving odd as if it wanted me to put my foot down. When we both came to an island the bmw was in the lane next to me and it turned out to be two police officers in an unmarked car.

Tried doing me once when it was snowing, showed them my driving licence and I think they twigged when they saw my name as they dragged me off a bus shelter when I was a young one and they punched my mate which of course we reported them
But the chief inspector accused us of lying!
Hate them

lol something similar happened to me on the bike. Raced on A406 in the middle of the night an audi S5.guy was racing me, I was just toying with the SV100 but we went all the way up to 100mph, and I stopped going faster as that is my "speed limit" with the bike on the A406. Never mind, 2 miles later or so, I saw the guy-who raced me pulled over by the police ) With the car I only go about 60 there as road is to small for my liking. not safe faster.

I had a kiddie in a Scoobie pull up at the lights alongside me the other day .... he was revving it and revving it, completely unaware of the massive torque I had under my right foot .... 340Nm - which of course blows the majority of Scoobies into the weeds.
I did humiliate the lad then decided he needed any street cred he could hang on to, so I eased back and let him have his day after a mile of showing him my rear twin triangular exhausts .............
Don't speed out there!!
