Default advice of billeting and porting vf35

As above after alot of thinking I am going with the vf35 turbo, anyone had any experience with a ported and billeted vf35? do you see much improvement is it worth it ? if so can you recommend anyone who does port and billet turbos

cheers

What made you decide on a VF35? Only reason I ask is I have had both TD05-16G, TD05-18G and VF35, and the VF35 was the most dissapointing... If I was in your position I would buy a Billet TD05-16/18G depending on power target. much better "whack in your back" all in my opinion of course

If your going for that you may as well just buy a VF34 as it will have the same effect as a billet 35 only save you a shed load of cash.

Perhaps he already owns normal vf35?:P
In that case billeting would cost around 200 pounds.

Cheers for the link but they only seem to cater for US variants, no VF35, 34 etc.

how do you work that out ? as Vf 35 scrolls sooner then the vf34 because of the smaller housing hence why I have chosen it

No it doesnt, vf34 will outspool a 35 on the same setup because of the roller bearing.

The vf34 will outspool and out peak a 35, the downside is the cost of the unit

They are the same turbo but as Tidgy said the 34 is ball bearing and will out spool the 35, so if you ported a 34 you would get pretty much the same results as a billeted ported 35.

VF 34 costs around the £3/500 mark.

Porting is easy, just spent a couple of hours doing a spare TD04 I have in the garage today, just type it into UTube and you'll see.

I think you can rebuild any turbo the link above for CR turbo's, but why rebuild one if it's ok, you just need to wait for a VF 34 to pop up at the right money, I used to have one on my Type R and sold it for around £400.

Depends what you want from the car and what your using it for, i like quick spool and good midrange between 40mph to 100mph I'm not interested in top end because I don't use it often, my fun time is mostly spent in 3rd gear so I want a turbo that stays on song there, the rest of the time I just need it to be quick off the lights and at over taking on country roads.

Lol, I'm no turbo guru, you'll have to do some research and see who does it professionally, I just ported mine as I was going to send it to Braveheart Developments for them to Hybridise it but it seems like he's having some problems with turn around times at the moment so thought i'd give it a shot myself.

A lot of vf turbos suffer from exhaust housing cracks. Very common and more so on the earlier vf turbos like the 34 and 35. My vf48 has a crack and still runs perfect. Has run 340bhp for years and 30k miles with no issues.
