hawk wrx wagon reliability ???
as above lads im goin to look at an 06 one tomorrow and with all the talk of 2.5 engine reliability I said id ask the question as the 2.5 wrx is rare enough in Ireland I taught you guys would know more than we would about them .
so are they reliable standard ?
is it just sti 2.5 that has issues?
if I mod it with a new turbo and intercooler and remap etc will it be ok
thanks in advance

Also interested in this reply. My 08 Hawkeye has:
- 51k (cambelt at 32k)
- FMIC
- VF48 Turbo
- K&N typhoon air induction kit
- De-cat up pipe, 3" custom exhaust system
Contemplating Forged Pistons, and Cosworth HG, etc as apprehensive of the horror stories (Aware that you will only hear the bad - not all the good engines out there running 100k miles with no issues).

I ran a hawk sti on standard internals at 380bhp 412lb/ft which I would say is was at is limit, when I sold the car a few months ago the car had just ticked over to 61k miles and still going strong!!!
I read all the stories on the 2.5 and still bought one, but had in my mind and some money put away in case the worst happened, I would say if money is tight and you really cant afford for the engine to break then I would stay away from a standard 2.5 litre car, but if you have some money tucked away and the car isnt draining all your finances then go for it, but be prepared for the worst if it does go!!!

Having driven 2x hawks STi in the space of 10mins one being a JDM with cable and one being a UK with drive by wire, the only difference I find is the cable feels old and stiff(obviously being mechanically operated) where as the drive by wire feels softer. but other then that I couldn't tell you if one feels smoother then the other when driving.
