Default Hawkeye FMIC = Rain into scoop, is this an issue?

As the title, my 08 hawkeye as a FMIC which leaves the top of the engine exposed during the typical English weather. Plenty of water can enter the engine via the scoop, which is also exactly where the Bailey BoV is located.

As this is a new purchase, I am wondering if I should be concerned and if so, what remedial action could I take?

Thanks in advance.

The Bailey BOV is probably going to do more damage then the rain can ever do!!

Bin the baileys and get a standard recirc valve, no issues with anything else regarding water ingress through the scoop

Happy to re-instate recirc valve. Need to get hands on one.

Understand the overfuelling issue that relates to Atmospheric BoVs. It was on the car when I purchased it and I do not have the original. This will be my first mod (or De-Mod!).

Nice to know that water coming into the Scoop does not cause an issue - Thought I may need to add a filter plate or a way to channel water away from the top of the engine.

Most cars on here who run FMIC leave the scoop, my old hawk STi was running a FMIC and the only thing I saw that the rain would do would be leave water marks on my intercooler pipes!!

OK, I can live with water marks.

Follow-up question, if the car has been mapped (by Duncan at RaceDynamix - previous owner), would the mapping have taken into account the BoV?

Do you know if I need it re-mapped/tweaked for Recirc?

Only that the TMIC would have caught all of the rain (I believe - stand to be corrected, however).

Without the TMIC, just leaves a lot more exposed.

Can close this thread now. Thanks all for your input.

the top mount wouldn't 'catch' the water, it would run straight through it, an intercooler cools by air flowing through it

keep the bonnet vent, it helps to keep the back of the engine cool

I have a standard recirc for sale, came off a blob 05 so not sure it will fit a hawk eye. If it does then you are welcome for a great price!

I have no knowledge of engines but I managed to change mine with no issues at all! Literally 2 bolts and 1 hose to sort!

I think the 'new age' car's are all the same (not sure about hatch onwards though) should look like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-2006-...item4ad701afc0

the classic one is similar to a universal one (IIRC)

if you fit a std recirc, there will be a pipe (about 20mm) that will have a bung in, remove the bung and connect to the recirc.
