Default Roof chop wrx

Just a quick Q .
Me & one of my mates was talking he is into hot rod & thing like that .
He reckons if he had a Subrua he would do a roof chop .
Mmmmm . I said it can not be done , he says it can be done its just no one has done one .
A classic Subaru wrx with a roof chopped about what say 2/3in.
Love to no what some of you think it would like like .
& can or could be done .

Anything is possible I suppose.

Give him your car and give it a go. Imagine how quick it'll be with low roof and a boot full of NOS hey fella..... :-)

Course it can be done. Would be difficult because of the rake on the front and rear screens but there's no reason why it couldn't be done.

I can't see what it couldn't be done? You would have to brace the living daylights out of the floor. Personally I think it would destroy the aesthetics of the car. I mean let's face it subarus are not the prettiest cars to start with. In the grand scheme of things you'd probably add more weight and drive like a jelly mould that way

Would love to see one done just to see what it would look like and see what it takes to do.

Thinking about it probs be better to build a space frame and removable shell? That way you can have a chassis set up to suit. Double wish bone suspension stiff as you like and what not.

O yer mate you would have to weld strut bar and so on . And on the soft top white Subaru that chassis would twist like made . But was was just chatting in the cafe killing time . He would chop the roof off take out 3" may be more . Put it back on . I would love to see him do one . It will never happen , but
If someone had a pic of one been done post it . Would be from the us lol.
P.s I always like the look of a Subaru . Never ugly . Will some modals. Not saying witch . Not going there .

Norris Designs chopped his Evo roof, and obviously chopped the length of the car too to make it a SWB 3 door Evo!!

They did a good job of that . Must of cost some .
Remember when audi did the short wheel base quarto . That was quick for that time of its day.
Still would be nice to see a pic of a Subaru wrx with a rat rod type hot rod chop done on one .

I think classic Impreza should be left alone, standard looking classics are more sought after now days, I think all the chavy ones with lexus lights and drain pipe exhausts with stickers all over them and silly paint jobs will be a thing off the past and all the clean ones will command a premium over the other sheds that you see for sale on e-bay etc!!!

I think the bigger question is why you'd do it, rather than can you do it.

To be fair the above car looks like a production model, the rollover bar is so beautifully integrated into the design and the tonneau cover is a perfect fit

An absolute abortion on wheels

To be fair I didn't intend to sell it, but another member on here made me a good offer and I sold it. Ive never been able to keep hold of cars for more then a year, and after owning 7 Impreza's over 11 years I decided I need a break from them.

These bloody Impreza's take over your life!!

I thought you meant a roof chop, as in cutting a few inches out and replacing roof. That I think might look cool.
