Default Engine Coolant?

Hello people,

I was wondering if someone could please help me on something...

I need to top-up my engine coolant on my 2004 WRX STI 2.0ltr Turbo, and was just wondering which coolant I can use besides Subarus own, as this seems to be hard to come by?

Thanks,

Leo

Prestone coolant. It mixes with any antifreeze.

Ideally you should drain and refill the whole system, but if you want to just top up it will be ideal

Ask at a decent motor factors for coolant suitable for an alloy engine, and for it to have a corrosion inhibitor.

Yes mate with no probs. Just make sure you get the one that mixes with any antifreeze.

You can get it from GSF car parts, or I know that Asda and Tesco do 1litre bottles

Unless it's one that states you can mix with others?

Yeah - the colour ones i think - i constantly believe my head gasket has gone with mine with the colour lol

i have to take a water sample just to ensure its clear lol - really should drain and clean out the whole system really!

I was told not to go by the colour either, it's just a dye used by different manufacturers.
Needs to be an OAT antifreeze in the newage impreza (organic acid technology) think that's what it stands for?
Could be wrong, happens a lot.

Ok thanks guys - I think my best bet is to basically put the same colour coolant in as what I already have.

No...NO NO and NO!

The colour is fek all to do with anything except it's a dye.

Either drain and refill, or ask for anti-freeze with corrosion inhibitor suitable for an alloy engine.

TBH, if you don't know what's in, drain and refill.

Do a search under my username for how to do so without airlocking.
