I'm not particularly fussy about colour.
I haven't really got a specific budget in mind - I'd be willing to pay well for a nice example in good condition and with reasonable mileage.
But it must be a 2006 model at the latest.

Depends on your budget?? But there is a nice Spec C Type RA at Hurst cars for £15k
Someone on here was after a hawk STi JDM the otherday and he said that he really didnt have a budget, when offered a few cars for £12-13k he soon said that he had £10k to buy a JDM hawk!!

Spec C's also have a different part number for the heads. MY05+JDM cars run 235 RE070 tyres

Read this!

think of them as a lightweight STI, often used as a base model for group N rally cars etc

I can see where your coming from, as the changes are really not that beneficial over a standard JDM STi, but a UK car theres a big difference. And maybe you would not notice those changes on the road, but on a track it would come into its own!!!

my point being that special editions are ment to be more flamboyant then the normal car even the csl has its spoiler. subaru went backwards and to make a spec c look like a propper sti you spend even more money and its no longer a spec c lol

From my perspective, my Spec c RA is around 170Kg lighter than a UK Hawkeye. Takes a lot of tuning to cancel that weight difference out!
I guess if that doesn't float your boat it is just an overpriced STI that looks like a WRX.

Look at the spec of the spec c hatch, brakes, chassis, aerodynamics, wheels et tyres, heads, turbocharger, fuelling system etc are different. The spec c uses a 2.0 twinscroll unit not the 2.5 in the U.k hatch sti.
Not just about its rarity it's about the engineering that's gone into it.. I don't think You realise all sti's aren't alike. Jdm specs are quite different to the uk model, different power plant etc.
Each to their own though, enjoy your flashy exterior add ons

To defend myself as it was me. My OP from that thread was to query a particular car on pistonheads and cat d. My preference was for a jdm hawk. Having said all that a good jdm hawk or blob sot or spec c is upwards of £13k+ as I've come to realise.

I would, your not paying for looks with this model. The premium over a normal u.k sti goes towards the performance advantage over it. That's where the money goes, it's not about huge spoilers and flashy WR1 type paint jobs. It's about its functionality..

If you have never owned or driven a spec c, you will never know.
What a machine.

Can we get back on topic here please?
There are plenty of threads outlining virtues of the spec c compared to other models...
To all spec c owners out there - give me a shout if you feel like moving on to something else!
