General Question- Help keep my scooby alive
Hi, as you might know my car head gasket failed 3 weeks ago
And has been in garage since then,
The story so far is as follows:
Head Gasket - Done ( steel gasket)
Water pump - Done
Exedy Clutch - Done
Timing Belt - to do
Full Service - to do
My 1st problem is: when i ordered head gasket set the kit that came with it
The oil seals are not correct size- turns out the engine has been changed at some point in its life iv been told,
Engine code: Ej20
Bare in mind its an X reg uk turbo.
Possible that its a later model engine?
Also all the engine breather pipes etc are
Worn out, can i possibly source them from
A cheaper source as iv spent over budget
Already :-(
Dont want dealer rip off prices.
Im really struggling to keep this scooby alive
All your info and help can keep this scooby
Alive and back on road.

Is it the camshaft oil seals you are talking about and are they too big or too small ?
Front crank seal and rear main seal are interchangeable through out the various years.
X reg turbo 2000 should have the Phase 2 engine fitted from the factory.

Sounds like the cam seals are for the earlier Version 1~4 engine if too small.
If your camshafts have the dual thrust faces at the front and the heads have an off set Inlet manifold bolt pattern, then your engine is correct for the year of car.
Hope the head gaskets are the correct ones seeing as the cam seals are wrong.
