Default Replaced Front Sensor and still got P0031 CEL? (FIXED)

Hi,

I had P0031 pop up, so I have replaced the front Oxygen (A/F) Sensor, but the CEL hasn't cleared? I have erased the code using OBD2 tool, but it appears straight away once I start the engine. Am I doing anything wrong? Or is there an issue elsewhere?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jonny

Did you replace it with a brand new one or a 2nd hand unit

It was a new sensor. The garage I bought the car from supplied it.

That may be your issue if they have cut and rejoin wires. Make sure they all connected and no wires are bare and exposed touching ground.

Other than that put a multimeter across the pins and see if you get resistance.

Hi,

I fitted the sensor myself, so no re-joins or exposed wires. The wires were a little bit shorter than the one they came out, however it still connected fine. I will put a multimeter across the pins and let you know what I get.

Thanks for your help.

You all correct! I checked the resistance and the parts numbers only to find that they had sent me sensor #2, which has a lower resistance (0.6 instead of 0.8). Bit stupid on my part, but that's definitely the issue.

Thanks for all your help gents!

Update: I have replaced the sensor with this: http://m.gendan.co.uk/product_LBX0306.html

Very reasonable price and quality looks just as good as Denso sensor. Fits perfect and no CEL! Sorted!
