Default Defi Oil Temp Sensor

Does any one know where I can get a new sensor, I spent HOURS today trying to fit it and I damaged the wire nearer the sensor it self when I was trying to get spanners and sockets onto it, also does anyone have an easy way of fitting it I spent hours trying to do it today, or best just to get a garage to do it.

Can you not solder it?

Replacements can be bought from eBay, unsourced mine from over the water, way cheaper to buy inc postage

Think you'll find them on eBay mate just type in Defi sensor

Is that why your reading was so high or is that a different problem?

Where is it fitted now?

Mine took about fifteen minutes in all, once I had removed the top mount intercooler I was running at that time.

I removed the plug above cylinder No3 with a long 8mm hex key, and wound a small amount of PTFE tape round the adaptor. I then screwed a plastic ballpoint tube into the adaptor gently, so as to be able to manipulate it as my hand just would not fit down there. Once the threads start cleanly, I tightened with a socket...my adaptor was alloy, so I didn't overtighten.

The sender was then dropped down by it's wire, and turned gently with fingertips until it started in it's threads, at which point I did it up with a long open ended spanner...and much patience...you have about 1/8 turn at most, it was a case of fit spanner, turn, turn spanner over, fit, turn..etc etc.

I got this to take it back out this evening,

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/gar...socket-set-1-2

so much easier!! Put the cable through the centre.

i now notice my oil temp drops slightly when on idle, site at about 80, I know don't know if its the sensor from when I was trying to get it tightened up yesterday and I have damaged it or a wiring problem
