Alright folks as the title says I'm getting the odd puff of smoke on start up, it's a single puff then there is no smoke when driving or on over run, any ideas what it is and should I be worried, its a blob eye wrx fully forged bottom end about 25k ago running 340/330

mine also dose it
it put it down to the fact that i always have oil at the top off the mark and since its a flat for the pistons are sitting in the oil.
when its not running the piston rings wont work well so a little oil seeps past
once you learn that its not your engine blowing up i quite like it lol

At a track day a little while ago I let my car sit for a while with the engine off after some hard use and then when I turned it back on again it looked like a smoke grenade going off. Just on startup and not when being used. It's not happened since, and she's been given plenty of beans in that time and started up many times.
Sometimes a little oil can get through as suggested above, I'd advise just poking the intercooler pipe off and seeing if there is any oil coming through if there is it may be a good idea to get it washed out. Could be early signs of a turbo seal but a little oil being pushed through under hard use is not unusual (owing to the engine design), especially if you keep the levels topped up.
I have since used it as an excuse to get a set of gauges and a catch can fitted.
