Help, any AP 4 pot users out there (330mm disc)??need
#1
Need to replace pads but need caliper code so as to be able to order. Someone suggested AP CP 5200. Is this correct?
These are for the 330mm disc's, I have Ferodo DS 2000's on the friont at the moment and will repeat this unless you guys can recommend some different pads for fast road and the odd track day.

The AP 4 pot kits sold by Scoobymania et al use the same caliper for both 304mm (16" wheel) and 330mm (17" wheel) disks.
Both kits use the AP Racing CP5200 caliper and hence the same pads, although lots of different pad materials are available.
See AP's website for further info

Dark, the caliper is the same but the pads are different and it's VERY IMPORTANT to know this.
The CP5200 caliper is the same for both 16in and 17in wheel kits, but when fitted to 16in wheels you must use a slighly smaller pad or the pads will foul the bell when worn.
I'll post the correct part numbers when I get home.
Richard.

As Hoppy says. For 16" wheels you need 46mm pads, for 17", you can use 52mm pads.
Can't recommend any though, as I have the same question - I've been using AP pads for road and track. Just gone through a set in one month (two airfield days) so I'm thinking of going for EBC greens for road, and some race pad for the track - any suggestions?

Important APR info...
The 16in wheel kit uses the CP5200 caliper but space is a little tight in there and the standard pads for this caliper will foul the bell when worn. The correct Scoob pad shape is therefore CP3215D46. The D46 refers to the radial Depth of 46mm which provides the extra 4mm clearance necessary. Minor downside is that the pad area is fractionally smaller (3cm2 or 5%) and there are less pad compounds available in this shape, the main absentees being Ferodo DS2000 and DS3000. APR list 13 different pad compounds, including several carbon-metalics from Performance Friction, Ferodo 4003F, Mintex M1144, M1155 and M1166, plus Pagid Blue RS4-4. The pad recommended by APR and supplied with the official kit is the AP-Japan ZX. I've been through a set and they're very good all-rounders for both road and track. If you're set on using Ferodo's excellent DS2000 pads (recommended by Prodrive) it is possible to get the slightly bigger pad shape machined to fit. If they were done in a small batch it would only add about twenty quid to the price. I don't understand why no supplier has seen an opportunity here.
APR do two 17in wheel kits with 4-pot or 6-pot calipers. The 4-pot caliper is the same CP5200 item, but can be fitted with the slightly larger CP3215D50 pads. APR list 17 different pad compounds in this shape, including all the above plus Ferodo DS2000 and DS3000 and the excellent Pagid RS421 which comes as standard with the supreme 6-pot kit.
The 6-pot kit for 17in (or larger) wheels is also not quite straightforward. It uses a slightly modified and slimmer version of the normal 6-pot caliper - ie the mating faces of the two caliper halves are machined down to squeeze beneath the wheel. So, for an Impreza, the caliper part number is CP5570 (not CP5555). The pad shape code is CP3894D51 but, because of the narrower width, the pad depth is 16mm as opposed to the usual 18mm. There are only 7 different pad compounds to fit the 6-pots - nothing from either Ferodo or Mintex is listed, but again it would be possible to machine the deeper D54 pad shape to fit.
Phew! Can I have something to eat now?
In closing, I would just ask if someone like Mike 'ScoobyMania' Tuckwood (or His Croneyness) would check the foregoing which is basically lifted out of an APR catalogue and may not be right up to date.
Cheers,
Richard.

Nice one Hoppy.
Yes, that's fairly accurate. APR don't stock all of each full pad range themselves though.
There will be some more pads coming into the 6 pot range, I am testing some prototypes at the moment.
