Default Help with tyre choice

Ok its time to replace the tyres on my turbo 2000. Current tyre size is 205/40/17. I've looked at toyo t1r's and hankook ventus evo2's. The cars not lowered and is a daily driver, i'm looking for a tyre that's good in the wet and our greasy rd conditions. does Anyone have any recommendations & is 40 profile suitable?

Vredestein Sessantas get good all round press on here, not tried them myself but probably going for a set next year.

Yes I think the correct size is 215 but people put 205 on because they are cheaper and more choice.

sounds plausible because i bought the car from my mate and have slowly noticed everything he'd done was done cheaply!

Well i used to find 205/40/17s a pain, they didn't like a pot hole, never replaced so many tyres lol 205/45/17 was alot better,so if you're going for 215 then i would also recommend 215/40/17 like 53 does. As the tyre gets wider, the profile get bigger.so the wider you go,you choose a profile size less/smaller than the one you wanted on the narrower tyre. So instead of a 205/45/17 it would be 215/40/17. Hope this makes sense lol.
I have akina sport tyres on my car £75 each fitted.i like them loads better than the yokohama paradas i had previously

Uniroyal Rainsport 3 are best wet tyre around just now. I've just put them on the front of my WRX and the wet grip is unbelievable. Check out Tyrereviews.co.uk.

To be honest, I've done about 20 miles and that's it.

If I was to comment yet it would be a lie, but they seem to be good

+1 best tyres ive had on a Subaru for value/grip/wear etc!!!

Loved my Yoko AD08's but these are quite expensive and more of a road/track tyre!!

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta

I went from toyo T1R (didn't like them) with 4mm left to the vred's and the difference was night and day. I had them fitted in the winter (heavy snow about 4 years ago) and I never got stuck, I tried my best too

I would consider the rainsport 3 as well, not heard many people on here shouting about them, but they seem to get good reviews

The eagle f1s are very good in wet conditions also def a good option I use mine as a daily not tried the ultracs yet but winter tyres would be the best now for this time of year better In cold conditions plus snow if it comes
