Lump of mud cracked my splitter.
Hello all. Just drove home and a massive lump of mud left on the road by a recent tractor or something has cracked my splitter in half. Couldn't avoid as it was either into a tree on an oncoming car and as the car in front had to swerve to avoid I didn't see it in time and just grinned and bared it.
Can I make a claim? Unless anyone has any tips for fixing. It's an ht autos one. It's a clean brake but one of the screw hole fixings has snapped off too

I seem to think farmers are somewhat allowed to muddy the road, but to what extent is considered acceptable I don't know. Pictures of the road and said tractor would help a claim

That was my thoughts, i obviously destroyed the naughty piece of mud. Usually the farmers around here have a big road sweeper for such a job. Maybe I was too soon. There were no signs advising of mud on road.
It will probably the same amount of time and money to pursue a claim. I should just be thankful the damage wasn't worse.

Road where I am are shocking since the beet harvest , mostly single lane roads which I live. I have been hit twice this month by sugar beet lorries thrashing it round the bends on the wrong side so they can carry more speed to be squashed by the end of the trailer, these little lights that stick out do the damage, nothing more than a broken mirror. My car is filthy within days, but I live in the country so just need to bare it.
