TD04HL has a larger 19T compressor wheel, the standard TD04L has a smaller 13T, vf35 is good for 350bhp with supporting mods and the td04 is only good for 280 ish, id personally stick with the vf35 as you have already have it mapped to this and going back to a tdo4 would be a backward step imo

ill buy your old td04 if its in good nick and cheap

C R turbos, New Milton, will build yours up for about £ 450, good for 300 hp, or possibly 320 with supporting mods, nothing spools faster than a hybrid TD04

TDO4 V TDO4HL refers to just the turbine wheel and housing it has no direct correlation to compressor wheel. Given your looking at tdo4hl on ebay i would be sceptical and say not 19T.

I converted my own td04 13t to a 19T billet, on my fxt, but it requires bigger compressor cover and bearing core ontop of compressor wheel. I just gave it ago as it was leaking oil anyway, probably woulnt bother going 19T if i was to do it again and just go for 18T.

Hi mate

thanks for advice im going to hang on to see if a hybrid td04 comes up anywhere and im very wary of ebay thats why i asked on here first as i bought what was advertised as a td05 16g seller said all the right things and it did look mint i bought it had mine taken off that put on guy tried to map it didnt boost at all totally crap turbo had to take that off buy a vf35 put that on remap again etc cost me 1400 in total with turbos and maps and fitting i was gutted and now im still not where i wanted to be should have waited until i found a hybrid but got talked into td05/vf35 but i hate the lag and smooth torque i dont get the rush of power like my mapped td04 which was only 275 bhp and full boost at 3000 car is now 320 and gutless and i have to wait until 4000 rpm before any power very dissapointed in car now

If you're waiting for a secondhand TD04 Hybrid, there might be a queue

I believe that was the turbo I had on my V5 STI. I'm considering one of these as a replacement as the hybrids a so hard/expensive to get hold of.

Out of interest why do you want to go back?

I'm running 279/301 on my standard TD04 and TBH I'm pretty happy for road fun. The only thing I want is for the power not to drop off when I get towards the red line. I want it to pull hard all they way.

Sorry for hijacking this thread

Reason why i want to go back as it were im not over impressed with the power delivery its really smooth and not agressive the td04 i had mapped was quick to shove you in the seat and great round town and the traffic light race it was away and i dont launch the car as later spool up tempts you to do that sooner or later gearbox will go plus engine screaming loud as hell and ppl looking at you etc

Power drop off is why i changed it in first place thinking i could get a bigger turbo and that would be gone it has gone pulls upto redline ok but the boost is on and off in 4th and 5th thats annoying too i was dumb enough to think i would have early spool plus not running out of puff and ive spent over 2000 on the car messing with it

I know the andy forest td04 are mad spool up and some ppl have had 320 bhp and full boost at 2500 rpm thats as much power as my set up and crazy early spool up and keeps going until redline sounds top to me
