What's the damage for servicing these days?
Hey all
Ordered my last few parts in prep to have the WRX mapped, planning on having the work done with Clive Atthowe as he is only 30 minutes down the road.
I would like to have the car serviced as well as having all the aftermarket parts fitted then the remap, I have PFR7B's, cossie filter and will be buying all the oils (gearbox, engine, etc)
The question.. what is the average going rate for a full service on a 53 plate WRX?? 60k miles but had belts done at 50k

Ouch...was hoping for around the £300 mark as I am supplying majority of the service items looks like I will be waiting a little while longer, service not due until August and I have only covered 3,000 miles since then but just thought I would get it all done in one hit

Call Paul at ExtremeScoobies.
He did a full service and cambelt change this year on my STI for approx £500. Obviously less for a normal service.

in my ideal world.. service, fitting of parts and remap would be £1000+/- lets see how far off I am

Cambelt been done in 2013, from memory, at around 50k. Would happily do the rest myself but I'm after the stamp in the book

Should be less if you're supplying the bits. What exactly are you having done?

Fitting of sports cat, centre decat, sti up pipe, 255lph fuel pump, 3 port boost controller. (Cat back already fitted)
rolling road remap

If cambelt was done at 50k it won't need doing. Filter and oils labour for an hour (I'm being generous) approx £40. Fuel pump is straight forward but allow an hour so say another £40. 3 port solenoid literally takes ten minutes. The sport cat and centre decat depends if any bolts are seized. If not up on the ramp and hour or so but say two hours so £80. Mapping if Ecutek approx £500 for first map. If open source will be less approx £3-350 plus whatever dyno time but should be no more than £100, considering all the work you're giving them. In my opinion it should all come in well under a grand. I wouldn't and haven't paid more than that.

If it's Ecutek you'll pay for the licence plus the remap so it works out more expensive. Open source doesn't require a licence so it will be cheaper. I would do some investigating before you start spending your money.

I tend to interrogate any seller when I buy a car and only my first two Scoobs came from dealers and then two Litchfield cars with warranties. The other 4 have been second hand buys and all JDM, with documented dealer, specialist and a majority of owner servicing.
But you can normally suss out any bluffing when buying if you know what to ask. But I had a Ford Fiesta a few years ago and the dealer tried to bluff me when it had a brake fluid change, put petrol grade oil in a diesel, so you takes your chances.

I have had run ins before where the seller has said "serviced by myself, I am a mechanic with 10 years experience" then I've turned up, spoke to the guy, sussed him out and walked away.

I do think some people pay way too much. Generally Subarus should be no more expensive to service than any other car in it's class. The fluid changes most half competent folk can do themselves.

FYI, the car is now running just over 290bhp and is a completely different animal.

Hi, you're pretty much having what I had done a couple of months ago. I had the same, but it was just an engine oil and filter change, no plugs etc. Cost of that was £1159 at TFS Racing, using Duncan from RaceDynamics to do the map.

OK fellas as promised, just spoken to a very friendly chap at Clive Atthowe in Norwich and the quote has come back at:
Fitting of supplied performance parts, completion of service using customer supplied parts and full vehicle assessment inc clutch/brakes, etc = Approx. £500 depending on any issues arising whilst fitting i.e. up pipe
Dyno Map using EcuTek software as they do not road map = £540 inc VAT
Estimated time for completion = 3 days
Recommended I look at replacing the cambelt next year, their service includes water pump, pulleys, tensioners, etc at £500 inc VAT
FYI, their hourly labour rate is £65
Opinions?
