Ok, here goes another weird thread (I might get famous for these ).

Do you guys wear a Tie when inside your Scoobys ? I'm asking this because the sense I get from a guy wearing a Tie behind a Scooby' wheel is pretty weird. I can't make up my mind between the sporty executive, the show-off boy-racer with a job at daddy's plant, the gentleman driver, etc, etc, etc...

Personaly, I do use a tie to work everyday , and therefore will be driving in one. (Yes, I'd rather be driving in a fire-resistant suit, but my dream didn't come true yet, and I'm 29, a bit old to start practicing to be WRC champion).

So, what's your opinion ?

1) Show off boy-racer ?
2) Gentleman Driver ?
3) Sporty executive ?
4) Snobby B4stard ?
5) He doesn't know what he's driving, his sun (daughter) said it was a good car ?
6) He thinks he's important, but I'll show him on the next traffic light ?
7) Damn, this thread is boring ?
8) any other serious, dumb, fun options you can think of ?

Cheers

Max

a while back i was at my dealer and had a long wait.
as a token to say sorry me and a friend with me were given a subaru tie pin each.
i never wear a tie!
perhaps subaru have asked dealers to try to promote tie wearing among impreza drivers.

I drive my scooby to work most days and a tie means IT geek seeing customer, no tie means IT geek not seeing customer

Wearing a tie in a Scoob means just one thing - much better chance of avoiding a tug!

For some reason, plod leave you alone if you wearone (don't tell anybody tho - our little secret )

Cool

I am an engineer at an internationally respected engineering firm (well, until it gets moved to Montreal in a few months), and wear a shirt & tie at work, and therefore, to and from work.

It is only working for said company that I could afford the car!
Always wanted a Scoob since spectating on the 1993 RAC rally.

BTW, when not driving the Scooby, my house mate gives me a lift in his Volvo 440!
(Can't beleive I just admitted to that! )

I'd go for 3. But rarely get to drive it all dressed up. Definately feel different though.

Thumbs up

I'm another tie wearing IT type.

But here's a trick for ya...

Wear a white short sleeve shirt with black epauletts (?spelling), optional black tie. See how everyone around you behaves then!

When I were a tie it means I'm either on my way to or from work, as an air traffic controller so none of the above!

Well, if you saw me wearing a tie in the blackbeast then you'd think I was bouncer!

Seriously though, if I'm driving to a client, I'll be in a tie, and driving the scooby. So I'd fall into the category of driving to business meeting, looking good, and driving a smart car!

Question

Markus, recent photo evidence posted here calls the "looking good" bit into question...

(All comes from licking too many toads, mate )

Heh. Funny thread.
Have actually given this a thought myself...
I feel wearing a tie (which I do to/from work) takes away a bit of the possible boy racer image, which suites me just fine!
Well, it's a wagon, so guess it's a little more subtle than a be-winged one to start with?
Keeping in mind that a standard turbo'd Impreza costs the equivalent of GBP 35000,- the Scoob is quite rare over here, and people tend to pay more attention to the car than the clothing of the person driving it. (Is that good or bad? Hehe!)

Simen.
Edited to answer those who may ask 35000 - how is that possible?? Well, our taxation system is largely based on engine kW output, so there are lots of debadged BMW 316 etc around.... :-)

I wear a tie and I get to drive round Wales a bit. I work in IT. If you are grunt you can get away with no tie but if you are a manager, you can't.

I ONLY wear ties for work and funerals

It is pure convention - How do we break this culture?
