Default td04 hybrid or just rebuild

I'm thinking of either getting my td04 rebuilt and ported and polished or getting a hybrid one built.
I'm after early spool and low down acceleration. Do I need hybrid one.
Will I feel the extra horses low down or will it be felt more top end.
its going on 05 wrx wagon full decat.
I live in London so don't need a bigger turbo.
cheers.justin

how low of low down are you hoping to get? TD04's are decent wee beasties - once ported out a bit you can release a little more top end in them but it's always going to be limited compared to a physically bigger unit.

At least with your own turbo rebuilt you know it will be in tip top condition compared to the mysteries of any 2nd hand units you can pick up.

Andy Forrest sell TD04 Hybrids.

At least then you will know what you are getting.

I think Scooby Clinics SC32 is a Hybrid TD04, you really want a billet wheel and a matched Harvey up pipe and maybe ported headers if you want to improve spool, all nicely wrapped and a turbo blanket.

I have ported a spare TD04 that I have and shall be doing my headers and STI up pipe that I have laying about waiting to be fitted when my clutch gives up. Then I'll send the one on the car off to be billeted and a bigger Saab t19 (I think) exhaust housing fitted, which effectively makes it a 320bhp capable turbo with mental spool.
