Default Calling all wheel experts. Advice needed please.

Hi Guys,

Ok, i'm wanting to get a hawkeye STI 06 looking like this.

http://s3.postimg.org/iwhgs8ib7/e007b451.jpg

I'm looking at buying the XXR 530 in Chromium Black or Flat Bronze, the wheel fitments are 18x8.75 - tyres 245/40/18. - I'm not sure on the ET because it doesnt say on Revolution247.com

Is this how they will look on a standard STI, or is the car in this pic lowered too?

The next question is, if it is lowered, are coilovers the only option? All the springs only i keep finding say they only lower the WRX and not the STI.

Advice is much appreciated.

Car is lowered in the picture, and yes it would look so wrong putting them wheels on a car with standard ride height!!

Also you dont want to be putting 245/40/18 tyres on 18x8.75inch wheels, You would be better off putting 225/40/18 or 235/40/18, If you go with the 245 they will catch on the arch.

I dont mind getting the arches rolled all round (and even flared slightly if needed) - just really want a nice wide "full look" stance.

Do you know if coilovers are the only option for the STI? As i say all the "lowering" springs i find say they dont do naff all to the STI so seems pointless.

You wont get the rear arches rolled on a widetrack STi, the rear arches have that extension fitted and they can be a right b4stard getting them back on as it pulls the arch out slightly, and im pretty sure some companys wont roll the rears, also it can crack the paint.

I had no issues with 18x9.5 with 225/40/18 tyres on my hawk STi, and that was lowered on coilovers with no arch mods!!! If you press on my name/profile you can see pictures of my black hawk sti.

That looks nice, so you reckon in that case that 18x8.75 with 225/40/18 (i presume this means they're just a bit more stretched than 245? - forgive me i'm not all that clued up wheel wise) would be ok? I'm looking at BC Coilovers and can get them preset to 40mm, that about right?

Cheers for the help.

225/40/18 dont looked that stretched on a 8.75inch rim, but to get it to sit right I would consider coilovers, and im guessing your thinking off getting a STi where the shocks will end up knocking anyway(most do anyway), so you might get rid of them while you can.

Yep, coilovers needed dude.
And 225 width tyres are the ones id pick to make sure clearance is okay.
You can even get some camber bolts (although some coilovers will allow camber adjustment built in), that way you can adjust the ride height and camber together to get that perfect fitment.

If you just buy springs only you may not get the exact look you are after.
The impreza in that picture you posted will 100% be on coilovers mate, and its probably on quite a low setting.
If you stuck those wide wheels on with standard height it will look terrible.

If you drive the car as intended it will rub,my car looked near enough same as the picture.
I had camber bolts, arches rolled geo done and it still rubbed.
Stance **** wheels are for sitting in McDonald's car parks.
Drive it properly and it rubs, spend the money on a decent make of wheel that fits
