I've just driven the best car in the real world
#1
Whilst on a jaunt to PS I noticed a young man and his Evo 7 and struck up a conversation. The next thing I knew this guy was offering me a test drive in what turned out to be his demo car. After much protest I agreed to drive this car(!!).To anybody who has not driven one of these let me say simply that this is the best car ever made.I may not know much about techy things but I've owned 3 scoobies and driven Skylines,Evo 6's and Porsches. This is without reservation the most responsive, best handling well planted car I have ever driven. This will without doubt be the next car I own.Very big thanks to Ian fron Litchfield Imports for allowing me to drive one of the first Evo7's in the country

I driven a few special cars but this is best car I have ever driven ( P1 included ) but then I'm biased

Wow! now i really want to test drive the evo7. Drove a mates evo6 before and was well impressed. Couldn't say which i prefer though the evo6 or Sti, which leads me to think the latest STi would be an equally brilliant car. I have test drove the new wrx all be it an auto! and was impressed...hardly any understeer
An Evo8 is deff on the cards me thinks

Deep, Evo VII undoubtedly fine car. Never driven an Evo but have seen their top-end growing very big in my mirrors!
What do you make of Evo mag's recent new shape STi vs Evo VII test? They put the Evo ahead, although the test data doesn't support that conclusion (but I would say that, wouldn't I!). It's obviously very close.
But perplexingly, they rate the new STi as the third best Impreza, behind the RB5 and P1. The P1, yes fantastic, but the RB5 was only a cosmetically changed MY99 car, with Prodrive Performance Pack pushing it up to 237 bhp! And they imply that the new WRX from Prodrive is going to beat the lot.
That's going to be some car, then!
Richard.

Pete,
I know a you're only trying to get 'em going, but you are right. Drove the Evo 6 and P1 when making the upgrade from my old Scoob and the Evo was easily the best in my view - brakes, turn-in, handling, grip - all better. P1 doesn't even look the part on skinny 205 section tyres. You need to get the WR kit to get it up to Evo standard, but for that money you could have an Extreme.
For those of you who disagree, drive them together and decide.

Only two things put me off the EVO7.
The size of the fuel tank, 48 litres. That gives a range of under 200 miles
and secondly the service interval is 4,500 miles to the scooby's 7,500 If you do 15,000 miles a year(not unusual) that's 4 services a year, rather than 2. That equates to a service every 3 months, rather than 6.
Mitsubishi should have improved those things as well as sticking all kinds of gadgetry on the car.

HA HA HA,
Now lets go a wee bit deeper, hows about EVO 7 Versus 22B. For starters the evo 7 looks like a fairy in comparison and if you want to turn every head in town, just what car would you prefer to be in....hmmmmmmm. Now how about performance and handling....In my estimations I think the 22b wins hands down.
Next........ !!!!

22B - didn't IM change the suspension on the UK 22B's when they came into the country?
Not really a good start to its life changing a major performance related component.
I suspect Evo VII out of the box (with original suspension) is the new benchmark which the new Sti may or may not match.
Suspect 22B for all its visual aspects and undoubted ability is now behind the game (or at least the RB5 when Evo tested it).

You've driven a 22B and an EVO VII then.......?????
I haven't driven a 22B so can't comment. I find it's a useful policy sometimes

I've driven the 22B and the EVO VI (will get around to driving the VII soon).
I already think the EVO VI is 'better' than the 22B but there again I liked the looks of the 22B better.
But the VII raises the game now. It is new (the 22B is old), the VII is an even better all round package than the EVO VI by all accounts.
All in all, I would have to agree the VII is the daddy.
Side note: The top of the EVO VII boot lid (ignoring the spoiler) is the same height as roof of a late model MR2 turbo
Cheers

Steve,
Man's car ? Skylark ? Pah, rather steer and brake myself <--- thats how you do it
Maybe you and Birdy should get your ***** down this way and have a go in the EVO VII. If you are man enough, that is.
Give Litcho a shout, I'm sure he sort you out.
Cheers
