What are AP-racing calipers worth ?
hi all
Have recently purchased a P1 and its come with a huge front Ap-racing brake kit on it but the pads are almost out and the discs could do with a change so im just going to sell the calipers as there in excellent condition and get a new kit. Does anyone know what the calipers sell for just to give me an idea 2nd hand ? i know there very heavily priced brand new !! Thanks alot

K-sport won't be a patch on the AP's. Plus they tend to need work after a couple of years.
I see where you are going: a zero cost set of shiney new calipers but personally, I'd rather keep the AP's.

pretty big downgrade AP's to Ksports, despite what sioc claim hahahahaha
Give alyn at AS performance a ring, he can sort you out with pads and disks im sure. When mine go gonna put performance friction ones on, not cheap but last longer

So, having asked this myself, my brand spanking AP Cosworth 6 pots with shiny new discs and pads are worth £700-£800 (apparently) and just AP calipers are worth £1000+?
Don't understand the valuations on this forum sometimes.
They're worth what someone is willing to pay i suppose, as with most things.

no they are not,not in the slightest as replacement pads/discs are around £500+ and a new set of ap's are around £1600 ish
a set of calipers on their own in my opinion are worth no more than £400 tops as with pads/discs you will be around £900 in total

It just amazes me the valuations that people come up with, it's very easy to put a huge tag on something when you have no interest in buying it. It's like all the car sale ads, "oh it's worth £15k all day long" when it's a £11k car.
I would imagine if my kit is worth £800, and someone else sold their calipers for £350, you could say £300-£400 (in the real world, where people actually buy things).
Reality check people!

I know it's a down grade but I have alot to do to the car and I want to drive the bloody thing haha . K-sport seem to be doing really well and some of there kits have very impressive views ...unless someone can point me in the right direction to someone that sells the discs and pads at a good price ??

Speaking from experience AP's are pretty much the bees knees only kit I'd have above them is the Porsche kit and that's only based on looks.
Going from AP's to K sports IS a MASSIVE down grade as the K sports are cheap crap and always will be no matter what anyone who has a set says, because basically they couldn't afford AP's which is whay they run K Sports or D2 same **** different name.
There's a reason AP's command the money and attention they do and that is quality, you only have to look at the responses to this thread to GET that.
I run a very average pad in the DS 2000 but because of the caliper I run them in(AP 4 pot), they perform well above average, stick them in brembos and they ain't nowt special, which tells you all you need to know.
Change them for Chinese shiny crap and you'll definitely know the difference.
But hey I don't give a **** what you do, it's not my car.
