Default evo fq 320

I went out with a mate last night who has an evo and it was rapid at 400bhp. But that was not what suprised me, the car was so comfortable. More comfortable than a brand new vw passat. Speed bumbs and pot holes where no problem. i think he said he had billestein suspension. Are evos generally more comfortable to drive or isit the suspension that made that much of a difference?

after yesterday i can now say i hate the ride of my scooby with these bc coilovers. It is 2 harsh on uk roads and i will be getting rid soon.

What is the most comfortable suspension set up guys for a scooby? and where can i buy used? Or would you guys only recommend new? I have an 04 blob

A big factor to this is also tyres / pressures etc. What tyres is he running, size etc?

Billies are standard on all mr's , did it have the ridges going down the roof ? If it did its a MR.
Evo's have always been a easy car to drive quick , I've had plenty.
They still bite back when pushed to far
I know where there's a cheap one....it was damaged repaired though but for a MR 340 with forged internals it's a cheap car

i dnt think it was an MR
just a fq320

He said he replaced the suspension with billies

seriously guys it was so comfortable to drive i am still shocked!

I am in serious need of advice, i absolutely hate the ride quality of scooby now and its a chore to drive on sheffield roads.

I have done the following
remap, perrin ALK rear ARB and short shift adaptor. I feel like the BCs are the weak link (theyre fantastic in the country side but unbelievable locally).

I am unsure of what to do all i know is in 3weeks i want to get my suspension replaced with something more comfortable. This is going go be random but I would love to meet some blobeye owners and get a feel for other peoples set ups to help me decide.

On my blob sti im running the standard sti pinks on the front and the kyb ultra sr's on the back as the old ones started knocking, ive had no trouble with these and theyre comfortable all round really.

Did you drive it or were you a passenger? It's surprising how much difference you feel when in the passenger seat.

mines a fq360 and has ridges down the roof
all evo 9 have them
it was only the 8's that didn't , but the 8 Mr did

mines on bilstines and the ride is so much better than a scooby
in fact the fq360 might of turn me full time to the dark side ;-)

I assumed he was on about a 8
Having chipped and changed between them over the last 10 years I have half a clue on them
The 9 has the best engine anyway....

It was a 2003 evo
wit an fq340 engine it it i think

not sure if it waa an MR

And yes i drove it, dont get me wrong the scooby feels more mechanical

its more the ride quality that made me think wtf... i jumped in it for a drive and was expecting same sort of ride as mine

I have to sort my suspension out help needed/requested asap

Will it be possible to replicate that sort of ride comfort feel on a scooby?

Imprezas are known for being more comfortable than evos. Its maybe your bc crapovers that ruin your ride.

My 53 fq300 was much more comfortable and quiter than my 53 sti is and Easyer to drive quick cos of better handling and smoother broader power . It was fragile though and broke a lot though didn't look as good wasn't built as good needed servicing every five minutes cost half as much again in the first place

I find the later evo's not as fun as a impreza...they are built better and drive better for the daily grind but I found the evo didn't really make me want more like the impreza do...

I've had an Evo 8 and now three blob sti's, including two WR1's, on standard suspension, no upgrades at all, the Impreza is a lovely comfortable car to drive whether slow or fast, more so than my evo

The problem is you're comparing cheap budget coilovers with high end quality coilovers, no surprise really.

Mate I'm for Sheffield too
Its Sheffield rds absolute ****e ,council got millions to spend earlier this year so did the lights lmfao....
I had a sti 04 with BC coilovers but with the upgraded rose joineted tops.
Seemed excellent with my other mods.
I know have a t5 vwvan and bouncers all over the rd.
As ditch says above the bilsteins can't be compared to BC apex coilovers

Therez different types of bilsteins? Whats the best for what i want, decent handling and comfort? Or r the bilsteins overkill for what i want?

Also if my brake disks are warped what do you all recommend for a fast road car set up? I heard drilled disks r best but what am i looking at in terms of price?

Any place i could get a decent package going for both? Front disks and pads and new supsension?

Dont do drilled unless paying megabucks. They crack easily. Godspeed grooved disks are a good job.

Performance friction discs and pads ,seems you cant have it all either track focused or comfort on uk s..t roads

I was very impressed with the Evo 9 FQ360 I tested; ballistic speed but so easy to drive.
