Its quite sad you can't seem to trust anyone these days, which spoils it for honest folk. Hope you get your cash back!
I always ask for a receipt when parcels are getting collected (I have a generic one printed, that they can add the tracking number to and sign, for when the driver says he doesn't have a receipt!!) just in case it/they go missing!

P.s
Isn't it just discs and calipers on the R's to change over? Or is that on the v5/6 only?

For those that don't get the subtle GOD and SPEED , it was us that dealt with Alan Jefferys on this order , we supplied him a rear brake kit for a Classic with rear 2 pot calipers which were reconditioned by us , new discs pads brackets.

We pressure test all our calipers , but we were informed that once fitted on the car one of the calipers were leaking , we were told the other side was fine , so we got our courier DPD to collect it , we had it back stripped it and couldn't find anything wrong , as we were told they were leaking between the 2 caliper halves we fitted new seals , pressure tested it , all was fine and we sent it back.
We was told it was fitted back on then told both calipers were leaking , not just the one , now this just doesn't happen with our calipers so i'm at a loss why they say they were leaking , no one else on here who has has calipers from us have had issues with calipers leaking , once never mind twice , so we can only guess a fitting issue.

So we said we would have them collected again by our courier DPD , unfortunately being very busy and being sidetracked Ben forgot to arrange collection of the pair of calipers until a few days later.

Alan phoned Ben to ask what we found with the calipers only for Ben to inform him that we hadn't received them back yet , we were told by Alan that Hermes had collected them but we informed them we do not use Hermes , we only use DPD for UK and Europe , we contacted DPD to check any info they had and were told they went in to collect the parcel on the 7th April 2015 parcel number 5990859634 www.dpd.co.uk , only to be told a parcel was not available for collection.

We was emailed a collection receipt by enginetuner from Hermes and was told to look into it , Enginetuner didn't want to do it , so being helpful we did the chasing for him

This is what we had from enginetuner to go on

As you can see there is no info to go on , no parcel numbers , no tracking info , We spent ages trying to track this parcel down with Hermes , but as you can guess to no avail , this is what we had in an email from hermes

A parcel was collected from ourselves at PL7 1RF. The driver took a parcel that was meant to be collected by DPD. Can you tell us where our parcel is?

We cannot get any info regarding this parcel , the parcel was not collected on our behalf , and we don't have a clue where it is.

What we do know from an email from Alan , is that Hermes went into enginetuner while the receptionist was 'at the toilet' so a parcel has been taken from them with no one in reception , they have no record except for a slip with no info written on it.

Now we are fair here , and even though the parcel was collected from a courier that was nothing to do with us , we did offer a compromise in that Enginetuner pays for a pair of calipers , or supplies a pair of used calipers to us , and we will recondition them for free including powder coating , new stainless pistons and seals , but unfortunately Alan wasn't interested in a compromise , instead trying to throw his weight about and bully us into footing the whole cost which under the circumstances I think is unfair.

To add an invoice along with a card payment slip was included in the parcel , which it would seem they have also lost , but it seems a strange thing to comment on .

Not a good situation to be in , and I believe we have done everything we can to help resolve it , if we have a parcel collected by any of our customers , we make sure we have full details of who has collected it , parcel numbers , tracking details ect , we would never hand over a parcel without this , and would certainly never be in a situation where someone can walk in without anyone seeing them and take a parcel.

Many people have had a first class service from us , and will continue to do so , our trader feedback proves that , its a shame that Alan wasn't prepared to compromise in this situation

Cheers Ian

Two extremely well respected companies on here.

Guys, is this really the way to deal with this? Losing reputations over one set of calipers?

Best taken off line and sorted out between them I'd say.

Yes I'm surprised with what he's done tbh , having a childish unprofessional rant is not the way to conduct business !

Unfortunately it gave me no option but to answer this thread , if I left it unanswered people believe it as shown above

I have given him an option that is fair to both of us

Hi Alan
I have not said our couriers didn't turn up , you know they did , I have included the parcel number , and DPD's website above so you and others can see for yourselves , there was no parcel to collect as apparently Hermes picked it up from you by mistake , you don't want to believe me that DPD use other couriers to do work for them , they have told me no , so ask them yourself.
I have never given you a flat no , I offered you the above compromise but you want me to foot the bill , the calipers have gone missing while in your possession not mine .
Come on be fair , do you think you would get a refund from anywhere without them having the items back ? If I'd bought an engine off you and said it was faulty but it went missing while I had it and you didn't get it back would you offer me full refund ? The answer to that is no.

If my couriers had lost the parcel , then we would have refunded you or replaced the calipers as DPD would have paid me out on them , now it looks like I have no chance of getting these calipers back from wherever they are so I'm not losing a pair of calipers and giving you your money back on them.

Yes it had gone quiet on emails as we were getting no where , you wanted a refund , I wanted my calipers , you weren't interested in a compromise in Us Both taking it on the chin and you supplying calipers and me reconditioning a second pair free , and yes you are getting it done for free as you have already paid for , and we have reconditioned the calipers you gave to Hermes .
There was nothing more to add on email as it was getting us no further forward , so I'm not wasting anymore time on them as I'm too busy for that.

Find out where the calipers are , we can have them back , and I'll gladly refund you

Cheers Ian

Unfortunately we have tried , we have spent a lot of time on the phone , mostly on hold , and emails trying to find out where they are , and without parcel numbers or tracking details it's got us no where , the Hermes slips that engine tuner emailed us are blank and have no info on them at all , we asked for the local Hermes drivers phone number to ring him direct but they wouldn't give it to us , they are one of the most useless unhelpful companies we have ever spoke to , the complete opposite of DPD who we use

If Hermes were scheduled to collect a package & have done so and left with the callipers then clearly a customer some where has received an incorrect order, So if anything some one should ring in soon & hopefully you guys can sort this.

It's not like oh I ordered a bottom end but Hey I got some callipers il just go quite about it, it just don't work like that.

Hermes should never have walked in to Alan's place and left with a package if receptionist wasn't there as that's the jist of things I got from reading the above, why not get the van registration of CCTV ring my Hermes and get driver to check his logs??

I used Hermes once to receive a parcel, long story but never got the goods even though the courier said I signed for it (which I never) when he came around his words were "you are not the person who signed for the parcel nor is this the address" (exactly what I told Hermes) I kid you not the guy was a clown. I hope this works its self out but I have a feeling it may not be that easy.

Whatever actually happened, there are clearly two sides to this story and it is embarrassing and unprofessional to be airing dirty laundry like this on a public forum.

Alan – many’s the time I’ve wanted to send emotive and angry business messages and emails in the heat of the moment. I’ve learned that writing them helps deal with the anger, but to hold off sending for 24 hours. Once I’ve calmed down I usually don’t bother sending them once I realise that would cause more harm than good.

Yes it is very unprofessional and embarrassing , but unfortunately to show i'm working on a solution to this I need to reply.

It is not a fact the calipers were leaking as we could find nothing wrong with them , we stripped the calipers in half as you say they were leaking from the join , there is only a machined recess for a seal to fit in , its not rocket science , we found nothing wrong visually with this seal , but while it was apart put another brand new one in , pressure tested it and found it fine , again.
I'm guessing it was leaking where the pipe connects to the calipers , and the fluid was running down the side to the bottom of the caliper and making it look as though it was leaking on the join.

We certainly do not have a quality control issue with our calipers as the hundreds of customers we do them for every year would testify

My attitude ? what because I won't bend over and let you roger me , its your the one going on the attack with your aggressive rants both on here and via emails , you need to man up and take responsibility that its your fault that someone can just walk into your building , with no one about , and take a parcel away with no receipts , that would never happen here , if you hadn't of let this happen we wouldn't be where we are now.

Are you in your shop next week ? i'm due to pick a rally car engine from Plymouth and i'll come and see you , i'm getting fed up of this childish bickering and we can sort it out without a computer face to face.

Cheers Ian

To summarise this, just so I can understand (if not others). I use the world apparently not to take sides.

- Faulty calipers. Boxed up to send back on agreement between both people.

- Parcel is waiting in reception at Engine Tuner (with what barcode label or just an address)

- Hermes apparently collect said parcel from Engine Tuner without notifying the receptionist.

- Godspeed claim they did not organise that collection and apparently use DPD for deliveries and collections.

Is that correct , Alan you claim Godspeed organised the Hermes collection, Godspeed you claim you didn't?

Therefore,

SOMEONE booked a Hermes collection for another item, and the callipers where mistaken for that parcel and taken or that parcel or that they have been stolen by someone claiming to be from Hermes, taken when no one was at the desk.

Just to add, as I use DPD and Hermes..

Hermes will not collect a parcel without a Hermes label, Hermes (unlike DPD and Pacelforce) do not offer a supply label on collection. They will not take any parcel without a Hermes barcode on the box...unless they where attempting a theft for themselves (which cant really see it, majority of Hermes drivers are good people and want to keep their jobs)

This could be that a chancer has pinched a parcel...those Hermes labels are easy to obtain, could of been a blank one they had from a parcel they had delivered themselves.

Why not organise a Hermes collection, and talk to the courier when they arrive to collect. Majority of the time you will get the same courier as they all have 'areas'

I do not think there is any direct blame here on anyone, YET, unless their is proof otherwise (i.e Godspeed did organise the HErmes collection)
