Hmm... seems it could be quite cheap to buy an '02 WRX (4/5dr) currently... Subaru have just started a new special offer on PCP and contract hire of '02 WRXs... so nows the time to buy 'em if you want an '02... even with the '03 rumours.

Kinda makes you wonder just how different the '03 will be if they are doing these deals... cos they did the same on the '01s to shift the last few WRXs before the '02 was available...

Hmmm....

Question

Nah, they're not doing anything wrong.. just looks like us '01 and '02 owners are going to potentially suffer, if the '03 is indeed as different as is rumoured.

Whens the Paris motor show again!?

But then again residuals on the WRX are hardly that great anyway are they?? Autocar quote a residual value of 50% after 3 years/36000 miles.

I bought a MY01 as a PCP in December 2001 and got an interest rate of 4.7 from IM with a guaranteed value of £9750 after 3 years. It's a lot to lose over 3 years unless you sell it privately but I intend to just trade it in and get a new one.

sillysi,

Is that 4.7 APR or a base rate of 4.7 %??

APR. No banks could touch it at the time.

Joey deacon - 50% residuals aren't that bad after 3 years - plenty of cars do worse - I think the best you can hope for on anything is high 50s (bimmers and the like).

Cool

Jon1T,

50% residuals are pretty poor in my book.

Porsche boxster, Honda S2000, Mercedes SLK and Audi TT are all over 65%.

Wink

Agree - they're prob the best examples of retained residuals - but you need to compare like with like and roadsters will always command higher residuals than tin-tops.

For the type of car it is I think 50% is good - definitely towards the top end of residuals.

I noticed this month's What Car has dropped its target price to £19.5k for new WRXs - more indication of the new models?
