The next step for more power...
Morning all,
I've had my 05 blob STI for about 2 months now and I'm absolutely loving it. I initially believed I'd be happy with the 335bhp and wouldn't get tempted to do exactly this...However, I've got the bug now and would like your opinions on what the most beneficial upgrades would be to improve power/performance in general.
Current mods are as follows:
-Stainless Steel 3" w' Prodrive Sports Cat
-ECUtek Remap
-Tein Springs
-HKS BOV
-Pink Front Badge (Car guy down the road said this is good for 40bhp)
Many Thanks

Someone will be along very soon to tell you to upgrade your brakes first or you will die in a big all of flames.
I say new turbo and remap
Not sure what injectors your car has but I would guess they will be running close to their limit!

Dont get caught up with the numbers game, Would 370-380bhp be no different then say 400bhp for instance?? I know its nice to say I got a 400bhp car but in the real world is a extra 20bhp going to make all the difference, Id be looking at a car that can spool up quicker and make a nice fast usable road car, and more important reliable!!
400+bhp turbo is going to cost you a fair whack(££££), where as under 400bhp you can still get away with some of the VF range turbo's from the newer STi's(Hatch VF43 etc) there good for 370-380bhp with some bolt on mods and wont cost you the earth to pick a used one up. Anything over 400bhp will start costing you big money.

My experience of this game is that whatever you end up with won't be enough. The first time a Porsche 911 edges away from you you will want more power. Once the next mods and an SC46 (or 321T) are in place 'ordinary' 911s cease to be of interest but 911 Turbos? Then cost starts to get out of hand.
But if you take the 'start low' route you can spend a fortune on the next upgrades. If I was doing it again I would go straight to the 450bhp turbo and supporting mods and forget the incremental approach. You may think now that 380bhp will be enough, but I bet it won't!

Bought my 2005 wide track almost 3 years ago now completely standard apart from exhaust and gone up through the power bit by bit until I have done fully forged build
Before too it off the road it was running 450/414... absolutely awsome car bags of power all the way through the gears and killed off pretty much everything on the road..
Here's the build thread if you want to have a look

Top Mount wise I was running just over 420bhp and didn't have any problems.. but I still say one of the best mods I ever did was braided lines and upgraded disks and pads all the way.
