Default Classic Subaru - Exhaust Back Box Help!!??

Hi All,

A bit of advice please on Exhaust Systems.

I have a 2000 Classic Subaru. At the moment its running a 3” Centre to back section with a HKS Exhaust. It sounds too throaty and to hollow as if the HKS Box Mesh has actually completely been burnt. Disgusting sound so I am looking to change my exhaust system.

I am looking for that DEEP BURBLE FLAT 4 Subaru Sound...

I found a link on YouTube. A Forester STI with god knows what system. But sounds like a dream. In my opinion. How a Subaru should sound.

See link below.

I called Scooby parts and they directed me a Tornado exhaust. It’s deep and gives of that nice deep Burble sound. Im not looking for any Crazy Loudness. But something that gives of a nice deep sound as the video above.

Opinions/ discussions would be appreciated.

I've heard of the Scoobyworld Racebox ones. Never heard one though, does it sound like anything in the video posted above?

I've heard the Tornado's are pretty good or Ninjas?

Thanks for your suggestion.

The Racebox has a similar tone - but possibly not as loud - I guess that depends on the mods on your car and the one in the vid.

Can't really comment on the others you mention - I've only ever had standard, STI and the Racebox on my cars.

Couple of links from a quick youtube search:

I ran a scoobyparts tornado 3" system on my last classic. I loved the sound of it, not mega mega loud while at low revs but loud enough, then at high revs it came alive. Nice deep burble and not over the top like many other systems out there.
Very reasonably priced too from memory.

Many thanks for uploading some examples of the race box. Sounds nice, although maybe a bit too quiet for me...I think my heart is set on the Tornado from what I have heard before..

Thanks for the advise. I also spoke to someone from Scooby Parts. They recommended the Tornado to. Also mentioned that it does open up nicely when the power is delivered. I think i will be buying a Tornado to. I believe scooby parts sell it with a 2.5" though. will need to check and see..

Your Subaru looks very nice!! How long have you owned it? I'm new on here and I don't know how to upload pictures of mine. confusing stuff. Would love to show you my Subaru Classic.

The chap who owns/runs scoobyparts is called Tim. Very nice chap and won't fill you full of ****, he'll also do you a bit of a deal If you mention you're a member on here I'm sure.
When I bought my tornado system I had the option of either 2.5" or 3" pipework. As my car was making circa 400bhp at that time I opted for the 3".

That's correct, I believe I spoke to Tim. Sounded like a nice honest guy. Also sent me a few videos of some examples with exhausts.

Just had a look under my car, I believe the previous owner had put a 3inch from the centre section all the way to the back. Also mine is running around 300, Should I just stick with the 3inch, or opt for a 2.5?

When you say you had the option, did Scooby Parts provide you with the choice before purchasing?

If so, I need to ask Tim about that, whether they still do that..

At your power level you'd be fine with a 2.5" system, it'll probably be more beneficial to be honest.

I believe I will have to end up changing my whole pipe work system if I run a 2.5". Is it vital after fitting a new exhaust that I have my car re mapped etc? for air flow and fuel?..

Just out of curiosity are your revolution wheels 17" or 18"?...

Ride at the moment is real stiff and need a 40 profile I believe...

I believe so I am keeping the same downpipe.....

Love the Speedlines. Gives it that McRae Look. What profile are you running? Would 17's clear my prodrive brakes?
