Default Smokey Turbo - Where to get a replacement

My 05 WRX is smoking every now and then, always at idle and not on the move.

I have a feeling the turbo oil seals have failed.

Any idea where I can get a refurbished replacement? (TD04)

Thanks

get it checked out by a specialist to see if it is the turbo, no point in buying one to find out its something else.

If it has gone i'd look at upgrading it

Well spoke to my local specialist who suspects the turbo but will have to remove it to confirm.

I am thinking about a VF35 but I don't mind keeping her standard as it is fast enough for me.
Plus if I go for 320bhp+ i'll be looking at supporting mods, so not a cheap fix!

Who supplies replacement or refurbished TD04 turbos?

Well I've ruled out the head gasket! phew! Just been told to monitor the oil usage.

Well after replacing the raptor back box with a prodrive version, I have had no smoke at all?
When I separated it from the centre section, some water dripped out, so it was more than likely condensation. So so relieved!

I have that on mine as i've got gt headers and a 3" stainless system.

Glad you've got nothing to worry about

Check the intercooler for oily residue around the the throttle body. It could be oil/vapour blowing back from the breather. After a "spirited" drive the breather residue sits n the exhaust. The solution is a catch can.

I`ve just had a TD04 hybridised by CR Turbos New Milton Hants, but not had it fitted yet; they reconned a diesel turbo for me a while back, and it was fine, and a good price
