GC8HK8D = Turbo 4 door
GC8HKED = P1
• Applied Model Codes (New Age)
GDABK8D = WRX
GDBBKKH = WRX STi Prodrive

The applied model code will tell you all you need to know. NOT the VIN code. It will be 7 figures and is on a plate on the top of the near side strut top.

I don't have an applied code. Vin is same as what's etched on the firewall. Was starting to get paranoid

You will or at least should have an applied model code on a plate where I stated earlier.

Take a photo of the top of the near side strut tower.

Sorry just read your last post properly. There should be a code somewhere.

What colour is it? It should be 86F if it's an RB5.

Put a pic of the car up. It'll be easier.

Yeah totally the wrong colour. It's got a few prodrive stickers on it and on the seats. Which I thought someone has stuck on. When I first bought it I felt it had a bit more power than 218bhp. Previously had mr2 turbo which felt simailair when it was 240bhp.

It looks blue to me which would make it a MY99 turbo 2000.

As Dipsy posted earlier, if you lift the passenger side carpet there's a metal cover. Take that off and the ecu is under it. There will be a code on it in large figures. That will tell you exactly what ecu is on it.

You never know it could have a Prodrive ecu to go with the stickers and seats.

easiest is to look at the coil pack

97/98 cars have the coilpack centrally mounted - 99/00 cars have the coilpack offset to the passenger side

Malta - could be, but more likely a Dutch/Belgian import. Several Scoobynet members imported their cars (me included!) 1999/2000.

Anyone else remember the 'ImportingImprezas' on Yahoo Groups??

Oh really? Interesting. The car came from n. Ireland don't know if that makes any difference? It was first registered in the uk 1999 though. I believe the original owner worked for subaru, he maybe got first dibs. It's obviously sat in a garage a lot over its life. Not a spot of rust and averaged 3000 miles a year.

as neill has said -

74f (sonic blue) was only available in the UK on special editions (22B/P1)
as it was the colour of the Prodrive WRC cars.

Europe got it on 'normal' cars. I've got a my2000 wagon in Sonic Blue (a rare beast!) which I imported from Holland
