Sourcing Parts for my Type R

Sourcing Parts for my Type R
Hi guys
I'm currently restoring my 1997 Type R and I'm trying to source replacement parts. My local subaru aren't being the greatest help at the moment.
I'm unsure if it's even possible to source some of parts I require but was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction.
I'm looking for new wings with the plastic inserts and all bolts/clips
Bumper bar front and back including bolts
Front splitter and clips/bolts
All the bolts and clips for the front bumper, back bumper and side skirts
Before
Now
Should be well worth it in the end
Any helps much appreciated
Thanks

As already said, ICP is a good place to start, phone up and ask to speak to Luke. The front wings are the same as other GC8's so you will have no problems finding new front wings. Looks like a very nice V3 you have there, it will be well worth it in the end as these cars are getting rare to find these days, not many coming up in Japan anymore either! Future classic for sure!!

Search eBay for Subaru Trim Clips, the world is your oyster. I have sourced loads over the last few months for the bumpers, wheel arch liners and various other bits.
ICP are good quality parts but they can be had for less.

Think I'll just keep adding to this rather than make a new thread for all my questions
So the glass guy came down today to remove my rear screen and windscreen. The windscreen needs replaced, he advised me that Japanese cars come with a bronze tint and I'll probably only be able to source a green tinted one here.
Does anyone know if I'll have any chance of finding a new original replacement ?
I'm also not having much luck with my local Subaru. Can anyone confirm if Subaru supply front wings with plastic insert/liner brand new ? If so I'll just phone the main parts department direct.
Anyway, I've got started ordering replacement parts from elsewhere
So as I've mentioned already I'm needing to source new bolts/clips for the front and back bumper.
Are the V3 front and back bumpers the same fitment as the UK Turbos ? I know they differ in appearance but are all the mounting points the same ? I'm assuming it'll be alot easier to source the required parts for a UK car as opposed to my car.
Just one more question for now, why on earth do my doors weigh so much ?
Any input appreciated guys

Try seller impartsb46 on ebay for very cheap OE parts from Subaru UK.
The same age UK Turbo car will have the same spec bumpers. You may want to have a look inside the doors to see if they have had Dynamat stuck in.
The Version 3 Type R's are heavier than equivalent saloons and the doors are much bigger.
Type R 1240 Kg
WRX RA 1190 Kg
WRX STi Type RA 1200 Kg

Thanks for the input
I'll look that user up on eBay and see if they can be any help. Also going to send m3 stu a pm in the hope he can help with a few bits
A few more pics for now
Shot blasted all the small bits of surface rust
2nd skim of filler to repair the roof. Bonnet latch failed didn't do a great amount of damage but will require some work to make perfect. Wouldn't like to think of the damage had the bonnet been steel !

I'm in the middle of restoring/tidying up my 98 Type R so Luke @ ICP is getting a bit of my cash as well
You should be able to get any of the tinted glass for your car (my glass said he could anyway),I've has to replace my windscreen (green tint) andf it was a brand new part.

Little more work done
Roof repaired
I know it may not look nice but trust me it's a excellent repair
Doors have been stripped and repaired
Bodywork repaired
I've also received a majority of my parts from Subaru
Front and rear bumper bar. Windscreen and rear screen weather strips. Both plastic trims that run from front to back, last 2 in the country
New front wings and new plastic inserts
Bolts and clips . . . . .
Just wish I knew where they all went
Still waiting on bolts/clips for side skirts, weather strips for the doors and those ridiculous clips that hold the scuttle panel on.
Hopefully the progress will speed up over the next few weeks

So some priming has been done
I'd just like to point out those rattle cans weren't used for priming lol
What I did use them on however was my front inner archers and surrounding area. The plan was to roll the car in the booth but decided I'll get a good enough job this way. Plus I don't need to fit/refit coilovers a ridiculous amount if times
Tomorrow I'll lacquer them then blast it with a ridiculous amount of cavity wax.
Finish lines so far away !

So I've finished the front arches for now. Had to refit the coilovers as the car has to be mobile by Friday. I'll go back and tart up the brakes ect at a later date
Also repaired and resealed the sills. Rubbed them down and shot blasted a few small spots of rust. Primed then stone guard.
Not perfectly straight
Kept the interior nice and clean throughout
Keep finding new jobs to do. Need to remove the fuel filler neck and I also found small rust patches inside the rear quarter where the coilovers sits that I missed previously
As it stands

Speak to Nathan about getting my 3 piece front splitter. Its my facelift parts (P1 front end, genuine V6 boot spoiler ect.) that's at his place just now. Just get him to pass on my number to you and can sort something out. I have original splitters here with spares for V3/4.
Car looked well when I seen it a while ago !
Kyle.

I'm after an original replacement, what kind of condition is the one you have in ? There's a p1 coming in for a respray that's after a boot if yours is available ?
Not asked subaru yet lol
A few more photos, more work on the roof
Found a small amount of rust on the bottom of one of the doors. Repaired and resealed.
Inside painted
Inside of the boot and underside of the bonnet
Better quality pictures coming soon !

Started repairing/prepping the inner rear arch and repaired the lip
More paint. Very happy with the quality
Not the best pictures, again. I will take my camera next time. They also make my workshop look more messy than it actually is, honest

Hi Stef,
Cars looking well! Sorry I haven't been in touch sooner.
The P1 bumpers and V6 tailgate and spoiler are mine due to be sprayed white for my Type R. I was in a bit of a mishap with my job situation and have asked Nathan to put it all on hold for the time being. I'm going back to Audi now so can get back on with getting the stuff sorted.
I'll get some pics and fire them over to you on Facebook or something. They are original splutters but they have been through a battle or three. Nothing Nathan couldn't sort though he a brilliant painter.

So I'm quite far behind with this. Cars painted now and currently being put back together.
So here's some older photos
Inside of the rear arches done
Mirrors, bonnet scoop and rear bumper
Roof
Still a small dent in the roof that will need repaired again unfortunately
Had the door hinges, bonnet hinges, rear strut mounts and bracing bars all shot blasted. Have been primed, painted and lacquered.
The painter has all the photos of the respray on his phone that I'll get shortly. The finish is ridiculously good
That's all I have for now. If anyone in the dundee area knows how to build a classic back together with just a box of random bolts your more than welcome to come down haha

So starting to come along nicely
Had the windows refitted today along with all new weather strips including roof rails
Fitted the doors along with new weather strips, seals and bolts to go with my freshly painted hinges
Seem to be having a bit of trouble replacing a few rubber seals.
I need to find a seal to run around the edge of the rear 1/4 window frame. Also need a replacement seal that runs along the top edge of the side skirts and front splitter.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
