My old skylark will be winging its way down the M4 next week to appear in Clarksons new video for his 100 Fav cars. My lardy chariot is apparantly in the top ten so will be featured quite extensively. Hopefully I'll blag a ride in a top motor or two "fezza's or lambo's would be nice
So I'll see u down there MikeR and Dingey.....Oh! no I won't I forgot your not invited perhaps he doesn't appreciate Fords.

Scooby Regular
Clarkson Lurrves Cosseagh's. Well I think that's how he pronounces it
In fact I remember him being estactic when he found and test drove his old much loved Escort Cossie.

Just out of interest what does knackered tires mean? cos if it mean going bald surely they will grip better in the dry, which I believe were the conditions when the test was done????

Andy,
Mark Shead had a 400hp Escort with std suspension?
That's clever isn't it - make the most of the power
And what difference would it make if it had Leda suspension, if it was fixed anyway?

AdamM,
knackared tyres isnt the same as bald tyres no. Bald tyres are what you say they are, better grip, knackared tyres means litteraly what that says, dodgy tyres, bad sidewalls etc, think Marks tyres were a few years old and hadnt been changed as they were unaware of the scooby challenge and only knew about the drag strip run.
CraigH,
the video race was a fix yes, but off the video VBH did a run around the track and recorded the same time as JC in the cossie and then MS had a go and got the same time also, so if the cossie had been running the same suspension and newish tyres etc, it would have fecking trounced the scoob!!!!

Steve,
So your car is going to be in the new Clarkson video..........he is STILL going to give it a proper slagging.
Are you sure he isn't going to have an Escort Cossie in it .....cause I think he is!!!!! Guess what as well.......both the Escort Cossie and the Scooby are placed higher then the Skylark. Shame!!!!!
Funny also that a 205 GTi wasn't that far behind the Skylark either!!!!
Oh well never mind!!!!!
Shaun.

I am sorry, but that is the best pie in the face I have ever seen
Incidentally steve, make sure they dont fix your performamce figures, as in the past when they raced Z3m coupe, evo 6, 22B and Alfa? they kept testing till they got the results they wanted when the turbos had enough heat soak to affect their performance.
Wasnt a prob, because the same guy owned both the cars that won each time.
(was pleased to see one was a 22B).
He is on this board somewhere.

This will be funny.
It will be an outside shot of the car, with Clarkson mumbling about Japanese brawn, blah blah blah, and 400+ hp. He will rub his hands together at the thought of all that power, then it will go to an internal shot with him driving.
Here you will see a bemused Clarkson, looking down at the accelerator, wondering if it's getting stuck halfway down, then a sarky comment like, "If this has got 400 horses, most of them must still be bolted up in the stables".

"SNIFF,SNIFF,
I think I can smell something?,
Could it "SNIFF" be "SNIFF Bull.
Maybe maybe not, but I bet he`ll have something to say about that 747 wing on the back......I think the best thing you can do with the spoiler on the back is sell it......
ALONG with the rest of the car and go out and buy something decent.

shows how much you know then! his fave car is an Escort Cossie, so much so that he used to own a mint blue one, and then had an escort cossie shootout in his last video "Full Throttle" where a 300bhp Scoob went up against Mark Sheads 400bhp Escort and it was FIXED to make them look even, yet they all recored the same time (JC, VBH and MS) around the track, and Mark was there with knackared tyres and normal suspension!!!! Imagine the embarrasment to the Scoob if Mark had fitted Leda suspension too and a decent set of tyres, you would all not be worthy!!!!!
Also, near the end the scoob is parked next to MS cossie, and Clarkson sits on the bonnet of the cossie and says "both of these cars are magnificent, its just one is a bit more magnificent than the other!" while giving that sly look to the camera!!!! you know, i know, he knows and they know!!!! and thats all you need to know!!!!!

Also, I'm sure we've all seen the "trick" editing that is often used in "Clarkies" vid's, when he tries to do a "Tiff", get's it all wrong and then we cut to another angle shot with the car back on track..
"Bloody nice bloke though"!

Andy.
So the 400bhp RS500 that couldn't lose a 235bhp Scoob (with no Leda) around a 13 mile circuit was a fix too was it?
When are you guys gonna learn that handling is more important than power????
Stef.

Ere we go again!
The race was a draw yes. (Fixed).
So Scooby =1
Cossie =1.
What would have happened if they then carried on....Like 0-60,0-100,1/4 Mile and top speed.
Let me tell ya!
Scooby =1
Cossie =5.
As Usual Nuff Said!

Steve are we still if we are only posting to put off doing work?
I just want to know why mark shead, with a company reputation based on the abilities of his show car, would spend loads on the car to make it great and then neglect the tires for so long?
What a waste of a great performance car.

?????? this was a 300+ scoob, so not your 'average' is it!!! also we are talking about new technology verses old, so that makes scoob look bit more iffy
Stef,
dont know about the RS500, down to the driver at the end of the day, but then after you saying "When are you guys gonna learn that handling is more important than power????" this obviously isnt an issue and also shows that like I said, Marks cossie handling wasnt up to scratch cos it wasnt using decent suspension like the scooby was!!!!!!!!!

LaughingMAO at Andy.
M8, I was there, I arranged for the Scooby to be there. I also took along my own car and a 22B for luck.
It was great to see Mark Shead's car do the drag runs. Also hilarious to hear some of the banter. "I've got 450 bhp, wot you got?", "460, what you done then?", "bleed valve and dump valve", "yeah same here"
Oh how we laughed.
Marks car was probably the best prepared car there and he was only claiming 400. Some kids (it seemed the more spots they had, the more power they claimed) said they had over 500bhp Ho Hum.
With regard to the race, of course it was choreographed, it wasn't their cars. But the times were accurate and identical, much to Jezzers dismay, hence the dead heat.
Yes, Mark's car would have been quicker with Leda, but then the STi would have been quicker if it had not been using THE FACTORY ECU AND RUNNING STANDARD BOOST PRESSURE.
Tyres, not really an issue with two straights and two bends, the Scooby just used what it had to better effect.
So there you go, if you live in Nevada, get a Cossie, if you have to go round corners, get a Scooby
I rest my case M'lud.
ps Why do you all wear puffa jackets anyway?

He He He!
The way you boys go on about how quick your cars are round a track makes me laugh!
It takes me back to my primary school days (No Sarky Comments) when the little white mouse keeps going round in his wheel as fast as he can!
Ok your Scoobys are good at handling....big deal but take a look at them. (Ugly As F*ck).
The handling is the ONLY thing they have going for them.
Why don`t you guys write to all the magazines that quote performance figures for cars and along with the sections for 0-60 etc ....get them to add a section for "Time Taken To Lap Donno"
The technology in you cars is so much more advanced than the Cossie`s so it SHOULD handle better.
Roll on the Focus Cosworth
Look at the depreciation on your Scoobys compared to a Cossie`s.
How much is a K reg Scoob worth compared to an Escort Cos?
Oh yeah and by the way when are Subaru Going into Formula 1.(Think Not)
As Usual Nuff Said LOL

Biff,
I think you mean, "as usual, complete 8ollox"
You are one of the most vocal bull5hit merchants on here.
You have a big mouth and small trousers, typical of a cossie owner.
You're not my twin brother are ya?

When are Ford going into F1 then? They might own Jaguar but then the F1 team is run by Stewart, they might have srong links with Cosworth but it still not Ford is it? It's all irellavent anyway, F1 is entirely different to day to day road driving and lets be honest, point to point there's not gonna be much between a Cossie and a Scoob.
Bob
PS, I work in a Ford dealership, own a Ford and want a Scoob
