Import Vs UK dealer

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm in the market for a scooby, do I buy UK or import? What are the pitfalls with servicing etc?
My local dealer are selling new models at wholesale price, I recon I could get a WRX for around £20.5K is it worth it?

Got my MY02 WRX wagon for £16k and a bit all in from Belgium. The UK dealers are happy to handle warranty work and servicing. So why pay UK prices??

There are 2 different types of imports, grey and parallel.
Grey imports are jap cars, ie wrx's of the classic shape, parallel cars are uk spec cars imported from abroad (ie holland, belgium etc).
If you have a Parallel import you shouldnt have any problems as these can be serviced by uk dealers (after registration with IM) grey imports will not be touched with a bargepole so speciallist servicing comes into it (and they are usually cheaper than uk dealers).
Other points to note, grey import scoobs can only be run on 97+ octane fuel (super unleaded to you and me or optimax which is 98.6ron) as jap scoobs have their timing set for 100 ron fuel.
