Default SC46 Cracked exhaust housing

Afternoon

Have found that the exhaust housing has cracked in many places on my SC46b turbo, Looking at prices to get it rebuilt and i guess first place would be Scooby Clinic but has anyone had to have theres rebuilt?

Any ideas on prices? Turbo has only seen about 8k road miles so was shocked to see it failing so soon???

Cheers for any help

I was gonna go for one of these turbos when i get my forged rebuild done, either a 46 or a 42, don't think i'll bother if the housings are cracking after 8000 miles.

I had my '46 rebuilt with a new turbine housing at the clinic a couple of years ago, cost me £350.

I understood the problems were with the earlier ones and the problems had been sorted on the later ones with a single cast housing.

It's no secret that I'm not scoobyclinics No1 fan. However I will say credit where credit is due, their SC turbo range are very good, tried and tested.
I run a 46 and it's a great turbo, don't be put off

Cheers for the info gents, good to know the later ones don't suffer from that problem, i'll keep them in mind then when it comes to turbo choosing time.

Will give them a call tomorrow, turbo is about 3 years old so any warranty will be out the window i should think.

Cheers.

Slightly different but I had a sc36 go after 1000 miles. It had shot its bearings. Wasn't covered but got a replacement at the price they pay for them. Was about 4 years ago

rare mate, they sell hundreds of them across the range and like all things there is an odd bad one. Alot of the failures that get talked about tend to be age or milage related though and as said above they have revised them over the years to improve them so depends which generation etc

My billet SC46 has been running fine for 10k miles now, 2 years old so perhaps an upgraded version.
